Not Gonna Happen

Here’s a hopeful thought:

The record-breaking gun sales during the coronavirus pandemic could bolster candidates that support the Second Amendment in 2020 and alter the course of American gun politics for the foreseeable future.

You mean guys like these?

Nope.  They’re Democrats, support BLM (by their own admission) and if you think that they and all the other liberals buying guns are going to become Trump voters in November, you’re delusional. The only reason they’re waving their guns around like idiots is because the Great Unwashed happened to come close to their precious house.

Even worse is this:

Amy Hunter, a spokeswoman for the National Rifle Association, said that the group’s success could change the political landscape at the local, state, and national level.
“The NRA believes voters who recently purchased guns for self-defense will join other Second Amendment voters and be an even more formidable voting bloc,” Hunter told the Washington Free Beacon. “They’re educated, passionate, and they know anti-gun politicians are the biggest threat to their fundamental right to self-defense.”

Well, if the NRA thinks this is the case, that’s even more cause for gloom and skepticism.

Sure, I have no doubt that many first-time gun buyers, especially those in the poxy socialist enclaves like Los Angeles, Chicago and New York, had their noses rubbed into the consequences of their home cities’ gun control laws (which they probably all supported before the Chinkvirus thing happened);  but a) they’re probably not going to vote for Trump or even a Republican mayor or city council, and b) even if they did, their numbers will be too small to make much of a difference to the outcome in said cities.

And now, if you’ll excuse me, I’m off to the range.

  1. It’s worse. They’ll have no problems setting things up so THEY can have guns, but there’s no way they’re gonna let YOU have a gun. They’re important you see. You’re still Shit-Outa-Luck.

    “Oh Mark, you’re being pessimistic”.

Am I? Robert DeNiro has one of only a couple dozen NYC full carry licenses issued to other-than-retired-LEO. He’s more than happy to have the ability to protect himself while denying you the ability to protect YOURSELF. IIRC Dianne Feinstein has a permit too. Donald Trump and David Wright (of the NY Mets) also had NYC carry licenses, as did Robert Blake. Equal rights my hairy Norwegian-Irish-Mongolian-American-Ass. Some animals are more equal than others.

Some time ago on a gun forum (don’t recall which one) someone complained that he lived in a place where only movers-and-shakers can get permits. While most advised him to relocate, some people insisted that he become a mover-and-shaker, grease the palms of the local politicians, whatever required. Screw that noise, I’ll take the risk of carrying illegally before before I’ll support people who would deny me the right.

    1. Mark, if it comes down to a shootout with that old hag, Feinstein, I don’t like her chances! And, I’m sure, they’re plenty of “I’m your huckleberry” types out there that would be happy to “engage” with her! LOL

  2. Dear NRA:

“The NRA believes voters who recently purchased guns for self-defense will join other Second Amendment voters and be an even more formidable voting bloc,”

If you seriously believe this, then you are lost to me. The only thing increased gun sales signifies right now is that a growing number of Liberals are awakening to the fact that all their efforts to change the world in their image and likeness are blowing up in their faces. They’re realizing that the mob they’ve depended on is no longer under their control when it’s rich white Liberal attorneys on the receiving end.

  3. Oh, one other thing:

“The NRA believes voters who recently purchased guns for self-defense will join other Second Amendment voters and be an even more formidable voting bloc,” Hunter told the Washington Free Beacon. “They’re educated, passionate, and they know anti-gun politicians are the biggest threat to their fundamental right to self-defense.”

Does that mean you’ll stop calling/writing me asking for money every two weeks, with the influx of new membership and support?

  4. Thanks Kim for a good dose of reality. I long ago gave up on the “if you own a gun you are my brother” idea. I believe more in the “98% of people suck” and “don’t trust anyone” club.

When it comes down to it, guns are a huge component of my voting and thinking. But I am not a single issue guy. There are a number of issues which define folks to me. And depraved lifestyles that corrupt the society around me or that erode MY rights means you are my enemy. Period. In my eyes, owning a gun is never going to serve as camouflage for some commie bastard or pervert.

Dear Lord I wish I was back in the 1950s…

  5. There may be some changes in some people who have purchased guns and watched as their blue cities have been screwed by the lewd and tattooed woke-ies. It could happen but not with Wayne and Brewers NRA, I pay the minimum each year so I can renew my range safety officer thingy, I pay every January and I get about 20 notices in the mail over the next year telling me I need to renew now. Lots of postage spent on my with the crap they send and I don’t see new gun owners jumping on board and lots of friends and family have decided there is little or no value in the NRA membership and no argument from me.

As for the new gun owners I think some of them, with their sacred secret ballot might support more conservative candidates but the problem here is that is all they use for information is the lefty main stream media the cross over vote to the right probably ain’t gonna happen.

  6. There has been a lot of conflicting information on the web about the political affiliation of the Lawn Lawyers. There is someone in MI with the same name that is definitely a Democrat. There was also a report that these people were in fact maxed out Trump donors in 2016. Who knows?

No question that they need training in gun handling and tactics but that is fixable. And she needs a better gun. And shoes, they need shoes. I recently (but before this incident) advised a solidly conservative, but unarmed friend that her first purchase needs to be some kind of carbine rather than a small pistol. She did get some training first which is the right way to go about it.

      1. For rich trial lawyers, I suppose. It may actually help him here. I’m not that rich.

  7. The key to understanding this situation and allocating liability and guilt is what happened BEFORE the Blackshirted thugs began to videotape this couple. Seventeen seconds only shows the part the fascists want to show.
It’s too much to hope that Mr. Leftist Lawyer and his wife have video of their first words with the mob, but video would show they didn’t immediately jump to Grand Torino.
It isn’t just body cams for police, now, it’s body cams for everyone, particularly those who the mob would destroy. A body cam (and dash cam) is now in the same category as a pistol you carry when you aren’t expecting trouble.
