See You In November, Asshole

I did not need to read this.

Texas Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick (R) told Fox News on Monday that the ability for strangers to sell guns to strangers without a background check is a “loophole” that needs to be addressed.
“I think one of the things, Jon, we have to do in this country is, take a strong look at this ability for people to buy a weapon when they’ve been turned down by a background check. … I believe, as a supporter of the 2nd Amendment, we should protect that family transfer or family sale. But any stranger-to-stranger, however — we don’t know how this person got their gun, but we do know that that’s a real loophole in the law. Because I’m a gun owner, I’m never going to sell my gun to someone I don’t know that — do they have a criminal record, are they a danger to other people, are they ready to commit evil? There’s no need for that.”

Fuck you, Patrick.  If I want to sell a gun, I’ll fucking well sell it.  If a guy has been turned down for a prior gun purchase and he then tries to get a gun anyway, then he’s at fault, not I.

And what if he was turned down because a vengeful ex slapped a restraining order on him, just for spite?  Am I supposed to know that, too?

What you and your fuckbuddies in the gun confiscation business call a “loophole”, I call a personal freedom — the freedom to sell my personal property whenever I choose to do so.  If the buyer turns around and commits a crime afterwards, that’s not my fault  — just as it’s not the (FFL) gun dealer’s fault when a “legal” gun buyer turns round and murders someone.  In both cases, the actual perpetrator caused the problem, not the seller.

As someone who wants to sell a gun, I have a right to ask the prospective buyer if he has a carry permit, and the right to refuse to sell him my gun if he doesn’t have one.  That’s the right you want to turn into an obligation?  Bite me.  If you want me to perform a “background check” on someone, go ahead and deputize me.  Otherwise, stay the hell out of my business.

Wait, here’s a thought:  why don’t you and your politician buddies pass legislation that automatically grants every concealed-carry permit-holder a FFL?  Then we’d have  to perform background checks each time we sold a gun (except to other CHL holders, of course).  Go on, I dare you.

And stop listening to the screams and wails to “do something”.  That “something” that they want you to do is going to piss off a lot of people who might otherwise have voted for you.  Like me.

  1. Here’s an idea — the next time a prohibited person tries to buy a gun, prosecute them for that crime instead of just letting them walk away and keep trying. That law is already on the books and you NEVER USE IT.

If you had locked this asshole up for trying to buy a gun, he wouldn’t have been on the streets with one.

  2. I hate hearing the “public safety” argument in the gun-grabbing context.

Kind of like hearing our DOJ, FBI, CIA and other national security apparatus hide behind the “national security” fiction when a court order or FOIA request is issued with respect to something that will be highly embarrassing to them.

  3. Many years ago I had an FFL and kept meticulous records. Went to renew it and ATF turned me down saying I had to have a store-front and regular hours so they could keep better track of my sales. They just keep trying to institute more and more innovative ways to control and take them from us. Has really made a difference hasn’t it?

    1. Yes. Remember when Billy Jeff Clinton was soooo proud he’d eliminated so many “Kitchen Table Dealers”? Now, we get to go to a brick-and-mortar FFL for our Internet sales and he gets to charge us whatever the hell he feels like.

      So yes. Fuck Patrick.

    Not true.
I have held concealed weapon permits in multiple states for more than 20 years but the last 4 times I have tried to buy guns from legitimate gun stores, over the past 9 years, I have been turned down by the NICS check. No reason is ever given. In 2 of those cases, after 3 days, the gun dealer was required by law to sell me the guns any way.

Look, according to the CONSTITUTION these laws are in violation of our rights already. Any person, any where, that is openly suggesting my rights be violated even more is on my hit list.

Oh, BTW, I know 5 other people that are also long term concealed carry permit holders that have been turned down by NICS too. Each time the check has to be run is another $15 right out of my pocket. So we are paying good money to fund a violation of the CONSTITUTION. People in favor of that need to be dragged.

  5. You need to be seeing him before November, like whenever the primary is in TX. I am assuming that there are no circumstances under which you would vote for the Democrat.

This highlights how dangerous Republican Quislings are. While few of us would vote for the Democrat Party, I suspect more than a few might decide that voting is meaningless and just stay home. This harms all Republicans, not just the offending one.

  6. cucks are going to cuck no matter what. vote the piece o shit out.

in a just world, he’d be tarred and feathered and run out on a rail.

    1. “cucks are going to cuck no matter what. vote the piece o shit out.”

      Indeed.
You don’t get to vote cucks out.
You only get to vote criminals IN.

“in a just world, he’d be tarred and feathered and run out on a rail.”

Change that to: “…beaten with rusty hammers.”, and I’m your huckleberry.

  7. I will trade UBC for loosening of the rules about NFA items, as in, if I have a CCW license no wait for my suppressor or full auto firearm.
