...lemme take a wild guess:  it sucks, big time and all the time.

And in “ordinary” news:

...I applied for the job, but apparently my answer to one question (land mines, machine guns nests and a thousand Nile crocodiles in the Rio Grande) led to my disqualification.

...not a sex fiend like Josef Fritzl, just some Doomsday nutcase.

From the Dept. of Modern Education:

And here’s a granny who does wear a bra:

Welcome back, Nigella me old darling… it’s been way too long.

More Guns, Less… Terrorism?

It always astonished me that while the Israeli government has never had a problem with its soldiers carrying loaded guns out of uniform or in civilian areas, e.g.

…it has always been difficult — almost impossible — for civilians to get a license to own, let alone carry guns.  (My buddy Dov, who lives in Israel for much of the year, once told me that it was easier to get a carry permit in 1990s Chicago than in embattled Eretz’ Israel.  Go figure.)

Since the most recent unpleasantness in Jerusalem, however, it seems that the IzGov has had a change of heart:

The security cabinet passed a measure to make it easier for law-abiding Israeli citizens to procure licenses for carrying firearms, which in Israel is notoriously difficult.

“When civilians have guns, they can defend themselves,” National Security Minister, Itamar Ben-Gvir, told reporters on Saturday night.

Ya don’t say, Minister.

Took the Izzies long enough, but there ya go:  at some point, sanity had to prevail.

Oh, That’s Okay Then

I am truly heartened that no less luminary than Nicholas Fuckface Kristof of the NYFT  has promised, cross his little Commie heart, that Gun Confiscators Inc. has no intention of messing with my sporting activities.

Thus we should reassure gun owners that we’re not going to come after their deer rifles or bird guns. That makes it politically easier to build a consensus on steps to keep dangerous people from lethal weapons like 9-millimeter handguns.

Ummm no, sorry.  And let’s not be sidetracked by the “dangerous people” trope, because only he (or the “authorities”) will get to define what constitutes “dangerous”.  If he means “criminals”, well, that’s already illegal (for all the good it does in stopping criminals from getting hold of guns).

No, let’s be in no doubt that his (and no doubt the Gummint’s) definition of “dangerous” will, with absolute certainty, include people like me, with our “dangerous” views on Second Amendment rights.

Not that I care — at least in the 9-millimeter sense — because I prefer the manly .45 ACP and .357 Mag calibers over the Europellet anyway but even in jest, let’s not give him and his kind the benefit of the doubt on this, because we know they’re all fucking liars, and they consider any cartridge objectionable.

Kristof, if you think that your transparent little platitude is going to win over the “only hunters” group (a.k.a. the “Fudds”, as we call them), you could not possibly be more wrong, and your efforts to confiscate / ban guns of any description will never be “politically easier”.

So fuck off and die, because we’re not ever going to compromise on the gun issue — 20,000+ existing gun laws means that we’ve already (over-) compromised — and your job from here on is going to be progressively [sic]  more difficult, actually impossible.

That’s our promise to you.

Gratuitous Gun Pic: Remington 742 Woodmaster (.30-06)

It has been a long time since I last fired a Woodmaster, but I remember saying then — and I repeat now — that if ever there was a rifle built to sidestep the stupid “assault rifle” hysteria, then this would be it, in the very manly .30-06 Springfield chambering:

And there’s even one costing a little less, that doesn’t include a scope.  Best of all is that these two rifles were made back when Remington still cared about quality.

Here’s the thing.  All gunny goodness involves compromise — sometimes lots of compromises — and in this case, the major compromise is, of course, that teeny 5-round magazine.  That’s more than adequate for hunting, but in a more, shall we say antisocial environment, not so much.

I would suggest that five rounds of .30-06 should pretty much end any dispute, but then again I’m of the “make every shot count” school and not in the “spray and pray” camp.

And, of course, this little honey would serve just as well as a hunting rifle — something you can’t necessarily say about the latest plastic fantastic Mattel offering — so there’s that.  Also, the listed Collectors price of $700 isn’t too horrible, either.

And the 742 has exquisite, flowing lines which allow for a proper fondling and stroking, compared to the Mattel’s sharp corners and unfeeling plastic.

Needless to say, I’m just an old-fashioned gun lover who prefers the old over the new, and wood & blued steel over plastic & anodized.  So sneer at me if you will, but that’s my position and I’m unlikely to change it.

Way TMI

Good grief:

After a VERY satisfying roll in the hay, I knew I’d met my ‘sex language’ match

I woke up yesterday morning with a glow that can only be obtained by a good nudie rudie session with my favourite gent. For the rest of the day I was on a natural high.

Seriously, it was like I was dosed up on some kind of wonder drug – a blend of serotonin, dopamine, endorphins and a hint of oxytocin.

As I skipped about my day, I reflected on my early morning roll in the hay and realised that I had found someone who matched my ‘sex language.’

Key words:  “Australian” and “sex counselor”.  The fact that she uses Goop as an authoritative source should tell you all you need to know.

Read it all, if you have a strong stomach.

Or you can just go with the old sex-drive truism:

Shortcomings

The other evening I was watching a rather good TV bio of the Virgin wunderkind  (not so much of a kid anymore) Richard Branson.  I love “rags-to-riches” stories at the best of times, and while Branson was not really a “rags” case — comfortably middle-class, rather — the fact remains that he built the Virgin conglomerate from nothing into what it is today.  And he wasn’t schooled, much, because he’s severely dyslexic and this in no small part caused him to leave school at age 16 and never look back.

And now he’s gone and cocked it all up.

You see, he’s bought into the nonsensical “climate-change-we’re-all-gonna-diiiieeeee” philosophy hook, line, sinker and rod, as have so many successful people of his ilk.

And I can’t help thinking that it’s because he’s uneducated.  Now granted, in today’s world such stupidity can and has sprung from the academe (not to mention other Marxist ideologues), but that’s beside the point.

You see, without a proper education, someone like Branson is more likely to be swayed by plausible-but-still-nonsensical arguments, especially when uttered and backed by “experts” (scientists, doctors, academics, whatever) because uneducated people always give more credence to these mountebanks than the latter deserve.

This is why so many wealthy people buy into stupidity — they’ve been so busy making money that they’ve ignored a substantial amount of the real world (whether political, sociological, scientific or academic) unless it has a specific impact upon their business.

It’s also why the wealthy buy into the arrant bullshit as propagated by the World Economic Forum (WEF), because they feel as though only they have the power to move the lumpenproletariat  (that would be you and me) into a direction that they feel is the “proper” way, regardless of whether the way is actually proper or not (mostly not, as it turns out).  Add to this the naked and unashamed thirst for power by the usual Socialist assholes (most politicians) — who, by the way, already have the power to make the wealthy a lot less wealthy — and you have the hopeless naïveté of people like Bill Gates and Oprah Winfrey who think that simply throwing money (their own money, to give them some credit) at a health- or education problem in the Third World is going to solve that problem, when they’ve never read Kipling’s White Man’s Burden  poem (or if they have, they’ve misunderstood its actual meaning — that lack of education, again).

And just to be clear:  when I say “education”, I mean it in its Nockian sense.  Many of my Readers, for example, are highly educated despite not having university degrees;  and many more have university degrees but have educated themselves way past their academic discipline.  I was able, for example, to see right through the forecasting nonsense of the Greens, despite not (yet) having a university degree because I had earlier learned how algorithms work — and more importantly, how they are tested.  When you realize that not one of the near-term doomsday prognoses of the Greens has come even close to being fulfilled, you will understand why their latest climate-change warnings are all pointed away from the near-term and towards times decades or more hence.  (Traditionally, algorithms have had a terrible time in making long-term predictions because of the instability of the world in general, but that’s been conveniently and deliberately ignored by the climate doomsayers.)

Which is why Richard Branson and his cohorts have bought into the Green nonsense completely — they have no idea why (or even that) the forecasts won’t come true, but because “scientific consensus” says they will, they believe them.

They’re as gullible as the fools who bought products from snake-oil salesmen or Gwyneth Paltrow’s Goop (serious overlap), but unlike the aforementioned, who buy the products for their own benefit, the Bransons believe that their wealth will help them become world-saving philanthropists.

Idiots.
