I can’t help recalling Rayne Kruger’s comment in Goodbye Dolly Gray that when they captured a wagon train, the Mauser-equipped Boer Kommandos were delighted to get their hands on a Lee-Enfield.

beautiful rifle. why is the scope mounted so high? It looks difficult to get a good cheek rest on the stock.

My first thought was that it was a beautiful rifle marred by an old ugly scope. Then I saw the scope is a Zeiss. Now I just want the whole package.
Those that made the decision, after the death of Bill Ruger (Sr.), to drop the Mannlicher/International stocks from the Ruger rifle catalogue that he so loved and admired, should be flogged, and flogged again.

Any fuck politician/femboy/bureaucrat/influencer, et.al. that would put a piece of art like that in the crusher or the English Channel needs to be horsewhipped, allowed to recover, and horsewhipped again, with the process repeated until it’s decided whether or not they’re actually a witch or not (you can tell because the non-witch dies). I was going to suggest brutal sodomization, but that might be pleasurable to the abovementioned.
I came back to this picture several times yesterday and again today. the more appealing that mannlicher stock is. It looks like a great hiking companion.
