Clawing Back

Best news, ever (and read it all for the full flavor):

Laid-off American professionals, who say they were replaced with foreign H-1B visa workers imported from India, scored a $4.65 million settlement against their former employer last week, Indian outsourcing firm Larsen & Toubro Infotech (LTI).

I’ve ranted on my back porch about this nonsense before (here), so I don’t have to repeat myself.

I’m just glad that this bullshit is being shoveled out of our pickup.

  1. At my last IT job, my department consisted of 2 Dot Indians, 1 Russian, 1 Serb, 1 Japanese, and one other American. And I was only there as a replacement for the Indian who was on maternity leave. She never came back, instead took a different job. OK by me as her coding skills were pedestrian at best, I had to tune a number of the stored procedures she wrote. One ran for 8 hours, my version ran for 12 minutes.

Department meetings were hilarious because nobody understood what anybody’s report was all about, least of all our Pakistani PHB.

  2. I work for a big, woke, rainbowcorp.

They have a huge compulsion to make every group in the company look like a star wars bar scene.

Funny story; the boy is a cloud architect, a very hot position. He was looking to find himself a better job and put his feelers out. I get a spiff to recommend him to rainbowcorp, who was pushing internal referrals.

But he’s a white guy. So, after searching Mos Eisley for the perfect fit and finding none, they finally got around to him, who was starting his new gig that week. His text was epic – “A little late to the party, aren’t they?”
