Sheesh, my post about a more relaxing life got me all sorts of input, from literally hundreds of suggestions to several invitations to come visit.  A couple of issues need to be addressed, however.

Because I’ve lost well over half a million dollars (failed businesses, cancer treatments, etc.) over the past dozen-odd years, wherever I end up would be as a renter.  Suggestions, therefore, of cheap real estate or great deals are of little value.

That said, I have found many wonderful places where rental property is not only inexpensive, but in fairly decent areas — i.e. not on the scuzzy side of town where my gun would often be called on, but not for recreation.

Here’s one such example:  a little town outside Morehead KY, which features scenery such as this:

And little single-storey 2BR 2BA apartments like this:

…which on the whole cost less than half of what we currently pay for our Plano apartment of similar size.

I should also point out that all this is way in the future, if we decide to do it at all.  Dallas is where (most) of my kids live, and New Wife’s kids — well, Australia and South Africa are just not gonna happen.

Thankee for all the suggestions and advice.  I should add, however, that if we ever move, it will be away from the Texas heat, so all the suggestions concerning the Hill Country etc. are for nought.

And now, if you’ll excuse me, I’m off to look at maps and such.

Working Off Debt

Here’s an interesting little morality tale.

My wife slept with our mechanic to settle a £500 bill we couldn’t afford to pay

We’ve been struggling to make ends meet ever since my wife lost her job last year.  My salary won’t stretch to cover our food, rent and energy bills.  That’s why we’re £2,000 in debt on our credit cards.

So it was the cherry on the cake when we were told our car failed its MOT last week. The mechanic told us his repairs would cost us nearly £500.  To add insult to injury it was obvious he fancied my wife.

Panicking, I asked if we could pay in instalments.  While looking my wife up and down he cheekily suggested if we didn’t have the money he could think of another way we could pay.  He said we could think about it overnight. Walking away, I asked her what she thought.

Her answer shocked me: “You know I’d do anything for us, babe.”

So the next day my wife went to his house while I waited in the car outside — it was the longest 30 minutes of my life.  I consoled myself with the idea that she’d be hating this as much as me, but when she finally emerged she seemed defiant and said: “Now I know I’m contributing just as much as you.”

It broke my heart and I’ve only got myself to blame.  Now she thinks it’s the answer to all our financial problems.  She even suggested I could manage her diary of clients.  I’m worried she even enjoyed having sex with this mechanic.

Well, that’s one way of “taking one for the team”, innit?

I actually feel sorry for the guy, because it seems to me he’s uncaged a tiger — and it’s small wonder, when all the Brit newspapers are full of tarts making X thousand a month for showing off their bodies and doing the dirty on prostitution sites like OnlyFans;  and in truth doing nothing on SugarBabies different from Mrs. Debtfire above.

It’s always gone on, only now it’s out in public.

I just wonder how these people account for the revenue on their tax return… because if they don’t, it’s called “tax evasion”, and the collection agencies (I mean tax offices hem hem) of both the U.K. and the U.S. respectively take quite a dim view of it.

Quote Of The Day

From The Diplomad (slightly paraphrased):

“Had I wanted to make money, I would have joined the Biden Crime Family.”

No kidding.  Of course, with the current setup, unintentional / assisted suicide is always a risk — or is that only in the Clinton Crime Family?  (I can’t keep up.)

Quote Of The Day

Liberal Women Threatening A Sex Boycott Over Abortion Issue, reads the headline.  From Scott Adams:

“A sex strike by Democrat women would end the need for abortions.  Everyone wins.”

Joy Behar?  Seriously?

Ammo Deal

To all my North Texas Readers who shoot and / or reload .308 Win:

I have 10 boxes of new PMC Bronze 147gr FMJ I want to trade for 5 boxes of premium target ammo — either handloaded by yourself (ergo no commercial reloads) or else new manufacturers’ stuff.

There’s nothing wrong with the PMC — it can and did get ten clangs out of ten shots on the metal poppers and silhouettes, and would work just fine out of your AR-10 or FN-FAL — but for me to do a proper job at Boomershoot, I need premium ammo.  SO:

For the reloaders:  bullet weight is unimportant as long as they’re all the same — preferably 155-168gr, and ditto the primers (same batch).

If you don’t reload, but would like to trade for branded cartridges, then I’d prefer any of the following:

Federal GM308M3 Gold Medal .308 Win 155 gr Sierra MatchKing BTHP
Norma Golden Target .308 Win Match 168 Grain HPBT
Hornady Match .308 Win 168 Gr. HPBT
Other brands, if recommended by yourself, will be considered.

If the batch number matches across all five boxes, so much the better.

Please let me know by email if you’re interested.  Of course, this is for the next ULD rifle…
