It’s still hot here in central Virginia, but the light is noticeably changing, a foretelling of autumn.
Two weeks ago, I saw the first red leaves on our dogwoods, and I have acorns on our driveway, their earliest arrival in my recollection.
I wonder if that means a colder than average winter is coming?
Cooled off noticeably round these parts…..at least for a week or so. Then we’ll see. Starting to get darker earlier now…..which kind of sucks. I don’t mind the colder weather, but having it get dark at 5:30pm just sucks.
I’m just outside of Houston, we had a little front come thru and temps dropped to the 80’s. It’ll be 95 again today. You can hope for autumn all you want, just remember, hope in one hand and shit in the other, which one weighs more?
we have had a cold summer in New England. I think the temperature has dropped into the 50s or 60s overnight. The sun is taking longer to rise in the morning. The apples are ripening nicely. Autumn is coming!! Put away those shorts and pasty white knees ole boy! Hello flannel shirt weather!!!
Here in the Phoenix area, our afternoons have been near or above 115 daily for most of the past three weeks. We start the day today with a 96. Not bragging or complaining, this is what we live with here. Summer will be over sometime in November.
