Some Reservations

This from PSA:

I have to say that having a Buckmark trigger — still  better, I think, than that of any other .22 pistol outside the competition guns — for only $300 sounds like a good deal.

But I also have to say that I’ve never been able to get anything more than minute-of-Coke-can accuracy with that 4″ bull barrel, and I’ve owned more than one of that type.  Not that this is altogether a Bad Thing, of course, because if you’re going to head out into the woods or to a short range with nothing but Death To Cans in mind, this little Micro would be the bee’s knees.

I do prefer the full-steel (and longer than 4″) barrel over the lighter bull barrel:

…and in fact I have just such a 5″ barrel, waiting to be swapped in its current holder:

…when I have the time / inclination to do so.

  1. How difficult is it to swap out the barrel on a Buckmark?

/My go to 22lr semi auto has been a Ruger Mk II with a 6-7/8″ bull barrel. It groups rather well. I inherited several more Mk II pistols some with open sights and some with red dot sights of some sort.

    1. Can’t be that difficult. If I have issues, I’ll visit my friendly local master gunsmith in the next town over.

  2. I have a S&W victory that looks very similar to my Buckmark, both have brushed stainless 5” barrels. The victory has always been a half assed performer. To get even marginal performance it has to be immaculate. The buckmark, which I only picked up because my local pawnshop offered it at a great price in a package deal for a 1953 Colt Challenger I had to have, is smooth, reliable and pleasing to the eye. I

  3. Remember, kids! “minute-of-Coke-can accuracy” is more than you need for “minute of face accuracy”.

  4. I have a Ruger Mark IV 22/45 .22LR that has the rail sitting at the Savannah PSA waiting on me to pick it up. Two days after I ordered it my wallet was stollen. This was at the end of November. I have gotten everything but my carry permit and driver license replaced. The two items I need to pick the gun up are “in the mail” for over a month.
