Here’s Some Fun

Found this jolly little missive in my Inbox last night, from simon @ domainservice.net.cn:

(Please Kindly send this message to your CEO because this is urgent. If you consider this has been delivered to you in error, please disregard it. Thanks.)

Dear CEO,
This is a official email. We are the Domain Registration Service company in Shanghai, China. I have an issue to confirm with you. An application was received by us from Baokang Ltd on January 13, 2026. They desire to register “kimdutoit” as their internet keyword and Chinese domain names (kimdutoit.cn, kimdutoit.com.cn, kimdutoit.net.cn, kimdutoit.org.cn). But after checking it, we notice this name conflicts with your business name or brand name. To deal with this issue properly, it’s necessary to send a message to you and verify if this firm is your distributor in China?

Best regards
Simon Liu

Seems all official and stuff, dunnit?  The question, though, is why any person or organization would want to use “kimdutoit.anything” in China?

And just in case you’re interested, Bloomberg says this about the company wishing to use my name:

I truly thought that scammers and phishers were more creative than this.

  1. Couple days ago I received an email “from” GoDaddy requesting me to reverify my contact info pertaining to my domain.

I deleted it, not knowing if it was legit or not.
Nobody gets to tell me what to do.
    “reverify”? Please.

  2. I once read that these scammer intentionally make their pitch sound stupid as fuck. The reason for that is that most smart people will see thru it immediately and just delete it. The smart people don’t want to waste time on an obvious scam and the scammers don’t want to waste time talking/emailing with smart people who aren’t gonna fall for it.

So make the pitch super stupid, and then only stupid people respond. And then they have a much better chance of scamming because, well, stupid people. It’s a self-selecting mechanism. And apparently somewhat successful in that they wouldn’t keep doing it if it didn’t work.

I guess this mirrors the so-called pickup artist community. If you used the same stupid pickup line on enough women, eventually you’ll find one that says yes. Best we can do is … Convince Trump to bomb certain districts in China and India where all these fucking call centers are located. I’ll take that any day instead of kidnapping a fucking commie, putting him on a helicopter, and then not doing the obvious thing.
