Following yesterday’s post about staghorn grips, Longtime Reader Anthony B. has a suggestion — not just for the Single Six — and Altamont Co. looks like they know what they’re doing.

(Wrangler grips also fit the Single Six line)
I wasn’t actually planning to get new grips for my Single Sixes, but now that I see the options…. hmmmm.
It’s always good to find a “new” gunny vendor (i.e. one I’d never heard of before), so many thanks, Anthony.
VERY nice! I’ve been eyeing Altamont for a set of replacement grips for my Super Wrangler. I snagged one of the TALO-edition ones with the 6.5″ barrel. The frame, barrel, and cylinder are cerakoted a beautiful midnight blue while the gripframe is cerakoted a brassy gold color (all from the factory) to give it the look of an old-time black powder wheelgun. It came with wood grips, I think also made by Altamont, but they’re just kind of…plain.
I’m leaning towards their Fleur-de-Lis checkering in either Super Walnut or Bonded Ivory.
I thought this was a widely known thing. Many manufacturers such as Smith & Wesson and Ruger among others use altamont on their factory guns. Some grips just have one difference – the smith and Wesson logo for example is on the grip you buy from the smith and Wesson store but it is the same grip sold on the altamont site. Some grips are exclusive made by altamont for a certain manufacturer.
I misunderstood your post yesterday. I thought you were looking for a deal on grips vs getting the best possible.
altamont is excellent. Can be pricey but excellent
Hogue is top notch as well.
