Three separate places in the U.S. were rocked by mass shootings over the past few days:
In Kentucky, five people were shot, one fatally, when gunshots rang out in a park near a packed downtown bar district Saturday evening. At least 13 shots sent revelers running for cover. The shooting took place at roughly 6.45pm at Charles Young Park.

Meanwhile, a mass shooting was unfolding in Chicago, at around 7.15.pm. It left four injured, two critically, after a car pulled up beside a group walking along a sidewalk in the city’s Gresham neighborhood. The victims were all injured after multiple occupants fired shots out of the windows before driving off.
And lastly:
A 19-year-old suspect was arrested Saturday evening, though, for a shooting that occurred at Virginia State University outside Richmond early Saturday and injured five, including a student. Suspected gunman Camron Harris is not a student and is from Virginia, Chesterfield County Police said in a statement shortly after making the arrest. Neither were four of the people injured.
There’s one commonality that’s curiously been omitted from the press coverage of these admittedly-tragic events. Let’s just examine one particular circumstance of each.
The performing act in that concert at Charles Young Park in Lexington was a group called Benny J & Friends, who according to their website are a “funk, R&B and soul” band. Charles Young Park is located in a predominantly-Black neighborhood.
The drive-by shooting took place in Gresham, which is a working-class, predominantly-Black neighborhood on Chicago’s South Side.
Virginia State University has a predominantly-Black student body, but as only one student was injured, that’s probably not important. What is important is that the shooter and four of the victims weren’t students.
Now before anyone of the Woke Generation gets onto me about this, let me say very firmly that what I’m commenting on is not the probable race (Black) of the events, victims or shooters.
What I am curious about is that not a single press report picked up on that commonality between the three mass shootings.
It took me about fifteen minutes to do that research myself, and to write this post.
But of course, the overall takeaway from the press reportage is how all these terrible mass shootings are so frequent an occurrence, and as KYGov Beshear was quick to pounce on, mere minutes after the shooting at Charles Young Park: “To stop mass shootings, we have got to elect Democrats that will actually do something about it.”
Pro tip: They’re not going to “do something about it” other than try to pass more stupid gun control laws that will not — ever — prevent mass shootings like the above from occurring. Nor will they — ever — try to improve the tragic set of circumstances that lead to Black kids killing each other, routinely and often.
What they will do is defund their police forces, refuse to prosecute violent criminals, make plea deals that result in less jail time, and release convicted violent criminals from jail prematurely: all of which will only exacerbate the problem.
But Trump / MAGA / Republicans are the evil ones.
Please don’t capitalize “black”. The MLA decided that blacks deserved special treatment because reasons, but Whites (note contrarian capitalization) don’t.
Adopting the linguistic perversions of the Enemy is a de facto concession to his insanity.
As to the point of the post, the only things government can do to effectively change the circumstances that lead to these mass shootings are things no politician *will* do. Abolish the Welfare State. Enforce the law. Uphold academic standards regardless of race. And finally, reinforce *real* marriage (overturn Obergefell, repeal no-fault divorce, outlaw contraception). LBJ’s genius was realizing that while DemonRats couldn’t put blacks back in chains of iron, they’d put chains of gold on themselves, so he subverted the family and encouraged dependence on the State, and everything we see happening in the black population today is a consequence of that.
Expelling all the illegals and H1B visa holders would also help, by freeing up those jobs held by those foreigners for Americans, including black Americans.
None of this will happen though (or not enough in the case of Operation Wetback 2.0). Too much graft available in the system as-is.

Hear, hear. When did that start? I’m a boomer who’s never capitalized black and white as indices of ethnicity. I don’t recall ever having encountered the practice until a decade or so ago.
Nope. “Black” is a race; “black” is a color.
I also capitalize “White”, for the same reason — White people have white skin, for example.
According to the U K Papers and reporting, someone named Jametrius Griffen has been arrested and charged in the Kentucky case. They showed a photo of some upstanding citizen with unkept Dreadlocks but somehow his ethnicity was missing ( possibly because both parents were unable to be contacted for confirmation ) I’m sure the US media will follow up in the coming weeks. …… or maybe not.

I’m sure somebody is going to pick up on that and completely bury the skin colour of the assailants in order to claim it’s all “evil white racism”.
In all those instances, the tell is when the report says something like “one person was killed and 12 wounded in a mass shooting…,” wherein the wounded substantially outnumber the dead. That’s a spray and pray or a magazine dump, shooting into crowds, and it’s almost always Black, (hat tip to host) both shooter and shootees.
On the other hand, when it’s five killed and one wounded, it’s almost always a White male shooter.
They take aim.
Governor Andy failed to mention the shooting took place in Lexington, one of the few places in the state run by Democrats.
Gotta disagree with you, Kim. Capping “black” is just psywar. “Black” (capped) is (supposedly) a culture, not a race. If you let the commies dictate the language we all lose. 🙁
I don’t care about the inferences, wherever it comes from. It just makes sense to differentiate a type of person from a color.
I have long thought that the term “mass shooting” is needlessly conflative. It leads the mind to instances of Spree Killings like Columbine, Las Vegas, or the Texas Tower. By simply using a metric of 4+ casualties, it includes many of these instances where there was one target or grouping of associates and a shooter’s complete numbness to anyone surrounding them. It seems more a situation of mag dumping and bolt, as opposed to a general massacre. Both are evil, but are of different types and mindsets; attempts at avoiding such situations is needfully different. Whereas one can largely be non-included by avoiding certain crowds and venues where tempers might flare or rivals target, the other needs more systemic risk prevention and hardening of places like schools were attendance is mandatory.
