...I’d just love to see the numbers behind that assertion — especially when compared to likely “tremendous numbers” of job losses to this new magical fad.

…only actual humans can qualify? Buzz Lightyear and Woody sue for anthropocentric bias.

...can’t wait to see the MTBF* numbers on this little trend. If we’re ever allowed to see them, that is.

...from bad to terrible, or from terrible to really horrible? I report, you decide.

...let me know when the orange jumpsuits are issued. Otherwise… [yawn]

...see above.

*MTBF: Mean Time Between Failures
AI is creating a lot of temp worker jobs in construction and electrical engineering to build all the datacenters, and some permanent jobs for security guards.
It destroys millions of jobs in pretty much every other sector.
I had to look up Bunny Xo – you sent me down a rabbit hole on that one!
I like Jelly Roll tunes.. I don’t know much about music or how he gets the songs he sings but as a Jones Generation guy born in the deep south, a lot of what sings about I relate to. Love his poetry, but his music kinda has the same sound. Sometimes poetry is enough.
Here’s the thing though – they were married for 10 years.. that means she married him when he was large and wild. Now that he’s slimmed down and calmed down and she’s aged they both are moving on. Good luck on the face tat thing though.. its never a good idea unless you are named Jose and greet your peers with ‘Ese’.
AI will replace jobs with different t ones, just as the PC did. We still need people to do things that AI can’t do well. For example, AI now does all the first tier Help desks that used to be outsourced to Bangalore, But for more complex and nuanced problems at level 2 & 3 it still takes a live person 9 who is then using an AI assistant to solve your problem. Be it a tech problem or a Healthcare problem.
Just last week I did a support call where it was ten minutes into the issue before I realized I was talking to an AI and not a real person.
Not sure. PC’s seemed to create 5 jobs for every one they took. AI Might take over at some point but that could be a good thing. Just have to see I guess.
AI will lead to tremendous numbers of jobs. Yes, that’s what they’ve been telling us for the last twenty years. Self scan checkouts will liberate legions of cashiers to pursue their dreams of becoming television hosts. Err… but when’s it going to happen?
1. AI *might* lead to a large number of jobs, but they will be significantly lower paying than many of the current jobs.
2. Regarding the MTBF for AI diagnosis in ERs: WIthin a year or so it will be a longer time than the MTBF for meat doctors. Medical diagnosis is something that AI will be *particularly* good at, especially in ER settings. AIs don’t get tired, they don’t get headaches, they worry about relationships (divorce, cheating etc.). They have access to **everything** . AIs shouldn’t replace doctors, but they should be augmenting them.
