From some Brit:
“I saw Starmer in the White House telling Trump we’ve had [freedom of expression] in the UK for a very long time, and I thought, ‘Yeah, right.’ We can see what’s really going on.”
Read this for an explanation of the above. Then be grateful you don’t live there. (To my several Brit Readers: I’m sorry, folks.)
I urge all Britons to support the Free Speech foundation, headed by Toby Young.
Freedom of expression (aka speech) in England? BWA HA HA HA. I have read so many articles on the internets and seen news reports of the gestato showing up at people’s houses for making comments online on websites and social media. Some people have even been prosecuted.
If that ever happened in this country, this website and all of us that comment (myself included), would be getting a visit from the stasi and likely prosecuted.
What is the old saying?
# Keep your powder dry
# FUCK COMMUNISTS
no doubt the visits would occur but at various places around the country, there would be piles of ex-Stasi. hopefully. Or there would be rampant absenteeism as Stasi agents start disappearing
It’s clearly too late for GB, it’s gone. Given the temperament of the average Brit (I could be wrong, I’ll defer to your opinion on the matter — certainly not the ones who appreciate your blog) I don’t think they’re coming back. The rest of Euroland, to widely varying degrees, is headed the same way, with one or two bright spots.
Now that I have grandchildren (#3 in the oven) we seem to have stemmed the tide, at least to some degree (Federal judges, ropes, trees, some assembly required), I would certainly hope that by the time this stuff is happening over here, the shooting will have started in earnest.
However, after reading stories of some children being removed from their parents’ custody by the state to start transing them, I’m not so sure about the average American any more, either. Why this has not resulted in some dead CPS drones or LEOs executing the removal order, I have no idea. I keep saying, “We’re getting close!” But, like the horizon, that point always seems to recede into the distance, never getting any closer.

I thought people would rise up after the City of New London v Kelo decision came out that said the municipality can seize your land through eminent domain solely because the new owner will pay higher taxes on it. But alas, no one really did anything except pass a few laws that can overturned when the wrong people are in office.
and Harvard has the Magna Carta. Some guarantees are not worth the parchment they’re written on.
