    1. Do they have any difficulty in firing them for turning 35?

      When I was a young adult in the 1970’s, the stewardesses were young and beautiful. As I got older and more worn, so did they. When most airlines started the stewardess thing, the expectation was that they would hire young women, who would work for a few years and then marry a well-off male passenger. But it turned out that many of these women would rather keep on working as “flight attendants”, and they did. Under American employment laws, they could hold their jobs until they were old enough for Social Security.

      Some women still look good at that age, but only ones that were lucky in their genetics and also work damn hard at keeping their looks. Most of those that do work that hard either do so because it’s an absolute job requirement (actresses and models), and the rest are extremely vain women with time and money to spare. (There’s a lot of overlap in these three categories.) Stews have fairly busy schedules and keeping their looks is NOT an explicit job requirement, so…
