One Way Or Another

Nothing makes me chuckle quite like this kind of idiocy:

Christopher Woolf Mapelli Mozzi was born in 2016 and is the son of Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi and American architect, Dara Huang. He was recently pictured with his father and step-mother, Princess Beatrice, at the Christmas Day service in Sandringham.

While very little is known about Wolfie, his mother recently expressed her gratitude for her son being educated in the UK, rather than in the US.

Writing on social media, the Florida-born architect said: “I’m glad my son doesn’t go to school in the USA. I can sleep at night knowing he won’t die at his desk tomorrow morning.”

She’s referring to the jillions of American kids killed each year in classroom shootings. [eyecross]

Leaving aside that untruth, here’s something that isn’t untrue:

etc.

Truth is that our precious princeling is FAR more likely to be stabbed to death in the UK than he is to be shot in the US — unless he happened to live in South Chicago, that is.

  1. For the life of me I do NOT understand the Brits obsession with the fact that we can own guns, specifically handguns. Went on a tour of Hoover Dam a couple of months ago and we had some visiting Brit nationals in our tour group, and that’s all they could talk about. Maybe they were trying to con an invite for me to take them shooting, which I would have done but I was 10hrs away from home.

  2. This is a ‘numbers thing’ that our so called ‘news’ sources have known
about and used, relentlessly and viciously, for decades.
An analogy – my Mom was terrified of flying and when I told her I was learning
to fly she nearly passed out ! You’ll be killed ! – Those things crash AL THE TIME !
Right, so I told her – We kill 50,000 people a year in cars, ( this was many years ago ) that’s a thousand a week but you don’t hear about every one of them do you ? We, no but but …..
No ‘buts’, let somebody plow their puddle jumper into a mountainside in
East Overshoe and it’s on EVERY NEWS CAST from coast to coast and boarder
    to boarder.
The perception is created by the frequency of the message.
    ‘Advertising’ anyone ??
This also, at least partially explains, many of the wide spread misconceptions, lies ( MAN MADE climate change, the enormous floating ‘plastic island’ in the Pacific ), and myths that we hear almost DAILY if not multiple times daily !
