Job Wanted

Here’s something I’ve never done on this website before, but when you see who and what this is all about, you’ll understand.

The executive summary reads as follows:

Recently laid off due to a company bankruptcy, he is an engineer and business development specialist with over 25 years in startups. He has invented, developed, and innovated in a number of technologies from graphing databases and encryption software to chemical coatings, low temperature gas kinetics, medical devices and software, aerodynamic vehicle systems, industrial visual safety products and more. Looking for something full time but is available for consulting. If you know anyone who needs good advice or help with a technological problem, he is a great place to start.

“He” is known to all Longtime Readers as “Combat Controller”, and he’s looking for a job.

He’s also one of my closest friends, so any help you can throw his way, whether by referral (what business-speak types call “networking”) or an actual job offer, will earn my undying gratitude, and may involve the gift of one of my prized guns should it all work out for everyone concerned.

If you have an idea, or need more info, drop me an email and I’ll put you in touch with him.  Get the call out, folks, and thank you all in advance.

  1. Sounds like he has a lot of knowledge and experience. While waiting for a magic job offer to suddenly appear he should delve into starting his own thing as side hustle if a full time job should happen. In a year, in the absence of a job offer, he may very well find out he is his own best boss. Like I did back in 1986. It will change your life in ways you cannot imagine now, mostly for the better.

  2. Best of luck to him and I’ll keep my eyes open. Jobs hereabouts are thin on the ground but local companies recruit internationally.

  3. I’m not in any kind of hiring capacity, but my company is always looking for people, and the skillset listed seems to coincide with some of our current job listings. The company is considered a “Stage 3 startup” despite being almost 20 years old. Our current headcount is a little over 300 people, and despite most of these job listings saying “Salt Lake City” it’s more or less all remote. We have people in in continental Europe, Britishland, Vietnam, Colombia, as well as all across the US.

  4. Parent company to the division I work for. May not be a perfect fit and I’m not sure what’s available, but tossing a business development aimed resume at them can’t hurt. I’m on my second go round with them after getting downsized in 2014. https://careers.gmr.net/gmr/

  5. Even though we’re a world-wide agribusiness, we also have large industrial plants and even mines (that dig out the materials for our fertilizers). If he sees an open position he likes at https://careers.simplot.com/, let me know and I can put in a recommendation.
