Oh, Really?

From our worthy Texas Senator:

Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX) brushed off NRA opposition to his gun control package Wednesday, noting that the gun rights group cannot be allowed to “veto good public policy.”
The bill expands background checks for some gun buyers, uses taxpayer money incentivize red flag laws, and broadens the NICS prohibited purchasers’ list (by using domestic violence statutes to cover dating relationships).

My suggestion to Cornyn:  start exploring your post-Senate career opportunities, because we will not forget this when your reelection time comes.

Also:  the NRA doesn’t mean spit in this state;  it’s the gun owners that matter.

As you will find out, you fucking squish.

  1. Cornyn and his insidious colleagues should be prepared for my F bombing that’s going to make the firebombing of Dresden look like lighting a cigarette.

  2. Au contraire … being unconstitutional, it is the very definition of BAD public policy. And, therefor, ANY citizen — individuals or groups — has the right, the duty, indeed the obligation to veto.

    GFY, Sen Cornyn.

  3. The skulldugery they used to put this obvously long prepared pos into action is just the kind of duplicity one expects of a career establishment pol. Does Texas have laws allowing you to recall a US Senator? If not you’re stuck with him until 2026. Which is probably why he agreed to be the hatchet man for this.

  4. I haven’t read the bill, but Clayton Cramer has. He’s the amateur scholar who exposed the fraudulent “research” in Michael Bellesisle’s Arming America. His work has been cited in amicus briefs by leading gun rights attorneys before the Supreme Court, and in court opinions. He’s dug through historic gun laws to show what their real import was. He’s compiled a comprehensive list of all mass murders in America to show how few were committed with firearms. Which is to say he’s one of the Good Guys, and as much of an expert as a non-lawyer could be.

<a href="http://claytonecramer.blogspot.com/2022/06/bipartisan-bill-misreading.htmlHe doesn’t see anything to worry about in the bill. In fact, his conclusion is that the Democrats got played – maneuvered into accepting a nothingburger.

Before going out to douse Cornyn with gasoline, take a look at Cramer’s analysis.

  6. Not the first time John Squish has acted as RINO Senator from Texas.

The offhand joke he made about illegals getting amnesty was no joke.
I’ve heard he’s planning to retire so why would he fear being voted out of office.
