A Wilson’s Mills, North Carolina, father shot and killed an alleged intruder Sunday night after the suspect allegedly accosted the man’s 11-year-old daughter.

At around 3:30 a.m. on Saturday, the unnamed homeowner was alerted by his Ring surveillance system that two men were attempting to break into his garage. The camera footage revealed two individuals with backpacks walking into his garage and shortly after, they were seen walking away with a box of tools. The homeowner, who had armed himself, approached the suspects to order them to leave his property.
A deadly shootout transpired when one of the suspects drew a weapon and started firing, hitting the homeowner in the leg. The resident returned fire, hitting one of the suspects multiple times.
Then, the good news:
The Houston Police Department noted that the injured suspect fled through the broken fence and was found at a nearby stairwell. Despite the arrival of first responders and immediate transportation to the hospital, the suspect succumbed to his injuries.
One less candidate for the “official” justice system.
The only sour note is that Choirboy #2 managed to escape with his life. Next time for the win, we can only hope.

According to investigators, the chain of events began when Serigny first targeted a car parked in the driveway, setting off the alarm and drawing the homeowners’ attention. The residence was equipped with multiple security cameras, which captured footage of the suspect engaging in bizarre behavior, such as eating grass and striking his chest.
Video evidence showed Serigny subsequently attempting to break the glass door of the home. At this point, the homeowner discharged a single shot, causing the intruder to collapse. However, Serigny managed to regain his footing, puncturing another hole in the door before eventually breaking it open. The homeowner responded by firing three to four additional shots, ultimately leading to Serigny’s death.
I know, I know: the choirboy was mentally disturbed and deserved the proper treatment.
Which he got.
From the Great State of Texas comes this news:
A liquor store clerk in Leander, Texas, shot and fatally wounded a 22-year-old man allegedly stealing alcohol on Wednesday.
The Fort Worth Star-Telegram reported that police were called about a theft at the store, then a confrontation between the store clerk and one of the three alleged thieves led to shots being fired.
Twenty-two-year-old Johnny Cabrera was struck by the clerk’s gunfire.
FOX 7 Austin noted that police found Cabrera a mile and a half from the liquor store “suffering from gunshot wounds.” He died while being transported to the hospital.

“[Ex-boyfriend] Giles had been in a previous relationship with the sister,” Kennedy said. “It was reported that Giles had been physically abusive to her in the past … The residents reported that during the day Saturday Giles made threats to come to the apartment. Giles later arrived at the apartment, broke down the door, entered, and began physically assaulting the sister. As this was occurring, her brother armed himself. The brother fired his weapon and Giles was struck, and did not survive.”

From NE Austin (TX) — not to be confused with the City of Austin — comes this cheery news:
According to the Austin Police Department, at around 5:31 a.m., officers responded to a call in the 7600 block of Bethune Avenue, where a female resident reported a man attempting to break into her home through the door and a window. The caller then stated that the male suspect had entered the home, followed by the sound of gunshots.
Upon arrival at the scene, the APD officers and EMS medics found the male suspect dead. APD says the preliminary investigation indicates that the suspect was shot by one of the residents in self-defense.
The interesting part of the story to me is that the dead goblin is not, as one might think, a teenage choirboy, but a sixty-something asshole. Whatever. Asshole is asshole, regardless of age, and dead is dead. (Thankee, Reader Brad for the alert.)
