Put another way: build lies upon lies, and when the final straw comes, the back-breaking will be catastrophic (for the liars).
I’d like to believe that, but I’ve been reading similar sentiments since 9/11/2001, and the West is objectively worse off now than we were then. I worry that by the time the switch actually flips, it’ll be too late.
