Blockade?

I hadn’t heard of this one before:

Gov. Greg Abbott (R-TX) has approved a plan to disrupt Rio Grande crossings from Mexico to his state by illegal immigrants.  His plan is to use a 1,000-foot “marine floating barrier” to visibly block key sections of the river most immigrants have to cross to enter the United States illegally.

The Center for Immigration Studies said the system is made up of large floating balls that spin to keep people from getting on. And while good swimmers can dive under them, “the whole design is to block the thousands, not the one” who can swim under, a state official told CIS.  What’s more, the state is also considering hanging “webbing” under the water barrier to make it hard to dive past.

Okay… I’ll be curious to see if this works.

It’s probably cheaper and simpler to implement than my plan involving a few thousand Nile crocodiles, anyway.  Or landmines on the opposite bank.

  1. Give it a try. Criminal migrants and their “coyotes” are a creative bunch who did tunnels under the border and such so we should harness our creative skills to counter their criminal behavior.

The crocodiles would be nice until they stray and eat enough pets on either side of the border. Then John Q Public would fight against that

  2. Ok. This is a joke, right ? There is NOTHING under these ‘scatological leavings
from the oscar meyer weiner mobile’ to prevent swimming UNDER them ??
That’s idiocy !! Even taking a child pass these beach ball rejects is simple – you’re
not going to be under water more than a few seconds and just wait for the howls
of child abuse when the first child DROWNS ( from the same people who apparently have no problem dragging children hundreds of miles to GET TO the so-called
    ‘border’).
Who is going to keep this inflate-O-joke inflated ?? A single person could take out the entire thing with a K-Bar and a jet ski in fairly short order !!
This has to be another ‘see, we’re trying…’ stunt trying show that our ‘leaders’
really really really are on ‘our side’.
I don’t know whether to laugh or cry !

  3. In the long run the croc option would certainly be cheaper. Well, alligators rather than crocs, since Florida is somewhat close-by. All you really need are a few dozen breeding pairs and enough time. Just do it stealthily and nobody’ll be the wiser as the barrier policy gets dragged through the courts.

I stand by my plan for a ten-mile DMZ south of the fUSA Border.
    .
I envision ‘scorched earth’, eliminating any building, water source, food, or shelter.
Out of humanitarian compassion, I allow a 36-hour sanctuary retreat southward for any loiterers prior to unleashing our B-52 and napalm bombers.
    .
I enforce our DMZ with patrols by drones directed by satellite imagery.
Anybody successfully evading our patrols faces a gauntlet of see-you-later-alligator and after-while-crocodile.

Alternatively, latinos and latinas can have New York city, Baltimore, Philadelphia, and the rest of that demopublican/republocrat mess in exchange for coastal regions of former-Mexico, Central America, and northern South America.
I think a hundred miles inland from high-tide is more than reasonable.
