My Deep Dark Secret

Here we go:

I’ve always had a massive crush on Britishland’s Princess Anne.

I mean, consider this pic, as seen through the eyes of a callow 19-year-old boy in the early 1970s:

It’s been said that she “exuded sex appeal” back then but it was, just as she was (and still is), a quiet and classy kind of sexy.

Just don’t let the spotless riding gear put you off;  she competed in the 1972 and 1976 Olympics in the grueling equestrian steeplechase events:

No shrinking violet, she.

And I still adore her, as much for who she is as how she has lived her life:  the epitome of class and elegance.

  1. Back then she liked to talk durty-durty and ride reverse cowgurl style.

Now, she resembles her mother…but still talks durty-durty.

      1. Lord Snowden in the above article. However he was not a British Royal and I misread the article.

Hence I withdraw the question. I was mistaken.

  2. Hey, she was pretty hot for a British Royal, too often they stick in my mind as looking like Charles.

Then again Her Majesty wasn’t a bad looking woman either (RIP your Majesty).

They have a simple beauty really, and that riding outfit suits her. Not because of the “obvious”, but because it does reinforce the class. That angle for the photo really suits her too.

  3. She certainly was fetching in her youth. As Ronald Reagan (PBUH) said, there’s nothing so good for the inside of a man as the outside of a horse. It applies to women too, as riders need to be in pretty good shape. IMHO, Anne started to look like an old lady pretty quickly. Now that is IS an “old lady”, she has grown into those looks. As I watched The Firm march in Elizabeth II’s procession, I was drawn to her. She’s as strikingly pretty as any woman in her early 70s could be expected to look, and she was damned sharp in that naval uniform. (Her second husband, Vice Admiral Timothy Somethingorother, cut a fine figure as well.)

I don’t know if you get Netflix, but the delightful Erin Doherty played Anne in the third and fourth seasons of “The Crown”. Here she is sassing her family up one side and down t’other. (HBC played Princess Margaret in those seasons, if you need more of a whistle-whetter.)
