For the first time since at least 1973 (the year I turned 18) I drank NO alcohol last night in spite of the fact that I bought a brand new 750ml bottle of Fireball specifically for the occasion. I have no excuse.
Luckily, I’m now at an age where I typically get tired and fall asleep before I get too poisoned. I surely did get a little lit last night, but fell asleep on the couch watching something, wife yelled at me to go to bed, which I did.
A little off this morning, but nothing a half pound of bacon, a boursin cheese omelet and a half pot of coffee couldn’t fix.
The neighbor’s fireworks woke me up just after midnight.
No, alcohol was not the reason I was asleep before then.
In fact, alcohol hasn’t been the reason for 10 years.

We have stayed in for as long as I remember. I think getting stranded was a concern at Y2K plus the fact that places are too loud, too crowded, too expensive, and too many drunks are out. Within a mile of where I live was a one car accident that ejected two people and trapped two more in the wreckage around pm last night. The life star helicopter was requested but weather conditions kept it grounded.

This time, as the year turned, the ships in the harbour got in the act too. Ships’ horns are unsurprisingly loud and penetrating!
