And Just In Time For National Ammo Day

…comes this news, also via CW:

Ammo maker announces Georgia factory, hiring spree for hundreds of jobs

In July, Italian gun maker Beretta bought Norma Precision and other ammunition makers from RUAG International, a company owned by the Swiss government, for an undisclosed price. Norma Precision had already announced that it was moving its headquarters to Georgia, setting up a factory in the Savannah suburb of Garden City.

Norma said 88 current employees in Georgia would be offered transfers. Employees will make an average of $57,000 a year, said company spokesperson Rose de Vries.

Last year, Norma Precision said it imported more than 400 containers of ammunition from factories in Europe, while also delivering more than 30 million cartridges of ammunition made in the U.S. De Vries said Norma would also export ammunition from the Georgia plant.

My only knock against Norma ammo has always been its cost.  If that were taken out of the equation, and somebody were to tell me I could only shoot Norma rifle ammo for the rest of my life, I’d be perfectly happy to do so.  Hell, I’d be ecstatic.

Reminder:  National Ammo Day is on November 19th.  You all know what to do.

  1. Regardless of any baggage, I’ll take competitively priced ammo every day. Warning, I only buy in large bulk. So get the fork lifts ready.

  2. Nat Ammo Day .. a permanent fixture on my e-calendar. Before I forget – an early Happy Birthday fine sir.

Saw the article re: Norma’s expansion in Savannah. And I *may* have made a purchase of some Norma fodder for The Inventory. Kim, you might prefer the AK platform for reasons, and may not feel the love for the AR and its .223/5.56 round (except for small varmints), but I think there’s room at The Table for us all.

Given that The Mindless Minions here in IL are actively seeking to ban virtually all semi auto rifles which also take a detachable mag, branding them as “weapons of war” .. I find it ironic that a REAL weapon of war, to wit the M1 Garand, is NOT on the ban list. Shows how much the miserable fucks in Springfield really know. I guess because the M1 is not black, that somehow makes it “acceptable”. With enough clips in a couple of bandoleers, I would not feel outgunned with an M1. Buddy of mine brought one back from Anniston a couple years ago .. and it’s a pleasure to shoot.

But back to National Ammo Day … 300 rounds of Norma .223 added to My Inventory.

    1. I’m in a state run by meatheads who tremble at ergonomic firearms. Well, they probably tremble at all firearms in the hands of the citzenry.

Hard to go wrong with a garand. sure it’s heavy and the magazine capacity is limited but you can make good shots with a 30 caliber hole puncher. The cartridge has some reach too.

Does Norma make any 30-06 for the M1 Garand? I know Hornady does and so does PPU.
