Proper Treatment

Who said the Germans don’t have a sense of humor?

Nine demonstrators who glued themselves to the floor of a Volkswagen dealership in Germany to protest climate change are set for a cold and dark night.

When time came to shut up shop, Volkswagen staff locked the doors and switched off the lights and heating, leaving the protestors on the concrete ground.

The protestors, who are all reportedly scientists, claim the carmaker accepted their right to protest but neglected to make their lives any easier for the duration of the demonstration.

‘They refused our request to provide us with a bowl to urinate and defecate in a decent manner while we are glued, and have turned off the heating,’ one of the protestors, Gianluca Grimalda, said on Twitter.

He said some of the protestors are also on hunger strike until their demands to decarbonise the German transport sector are met. [starve, you fuckers — Kim]

‘We can’t order our food, we must use the one provided by Volkswagen. Lights off. Random unannounced checks by security guards with bright torches,’ he said.

My position on their hardship:

Actually, my real position involves whips, Tasers and so on, but no doubt some people will have a problem with this.

  1. “Lets glue ourselves to the floor at the Porsche exhibit. Those Germans are sure to be understanding of our goals. ”

Museum staff — “Ze alarm system has motion detectors and ve haven’t fully tested the security Lasers yet so don’t move after the lights go off. Ze cleaners come in at 6am. Maybe ve see you tomorrow – yes?”

  2. Seeing as how the “protesters” were going to be there all night on the concrete with no heat, they could’ve at least provided them with a nice, cold shower before they left for the evening.

  3. I support the demonstrators right to demonstrate their stupidity.

My support (nor VW’s) does not extend to providing for their stupidity

The operators of that facility should just put up a sign that says “Ausstellung wegen Wartungsarbeiten bis November geschlossen”.

  4. Hey, it’s not Volkswagen’s fault! They were protesting against the continued use of fossil fuel, and Germany is heavily dependent on Coal and Oil. Volkswagen even said they supported their right to protest the use of fossil fuels. Why didn’t the smarter-than-the-average German Green demonstrator demonstrate their freedom from fossil fuels? Why leave it up to the Volkswagen engineers to demonstrate to them how to forswear fossil fuels?

By demonstrating thinking of that caliber, how do these climate activists expect to remain gainfully employed after they survive this test of their thinking skills.

      1. They might be able to do SOMETHING. I think street sweepers or rag pickers might be consistent with their current skillsets.

  5. They should mop the floor with ice water and make sure to get the mops soaking wet so they splatter.

Time to rearrange the cars on display and move them around the display area.

Make their pathetic and melodramatic lives utterly unbearable.

  6. Too bad there wasn’t a three or four day holiday weekend upcoming when VW shut off the lights and heat.
One would think the glue children would have been grateful for that saving of fossil-fueled electricity, but no, they are only happy when they have something to whine about, like the VW-supplied food and waste disposal facilities the poore snowflakes didn’t approve of.
I want to go to one of those affairs and play whackamole with those assholes, I really do.

  7. So they are upset that they age getting a taste of the future they are demanding for all Germans?

  8. I see the Queen Elizabeth Bridge Green assholes got two people killed and others seriously injured in the resulting traffic jam caused by their shenanigans. I sure hope they’re charged with a lot more than disturbing the peace, something more like accessory to manslaughter or some such.

  9. Why are you calling them “protestors” instead of what they are: ecoterrorists.
Shitty move from VW making a statement “acknowledging their right to protest”. They should have made a statement about destruction of property, trespassing, and things like that.

  10. VW should have announced they were starting a 36 hour emissions test and given them 2 minutes to vacate. Whether or not they provide acetone to remove the glue is up to them. These are half hearted protesters if your cause is that important spring for industrial epoxy!

  12. The jackass I saw video of was a psychologist so you really have to use the word “scientist” loosely to describe him, if you’ve ever seen studies into the reproducibility (or lack thereof) of studies in that field you’ll understand why calling it “science” is an overstatement. It does explain why his genius planning didn’t account for the difference between VW accepting their right to protest, which I totally agree with, and VW actively assisting them in their protest by providing services and support while they do so. The only assistance I would give them is a little acetone to debond the cyanoacrylate glue after they die so that the bodies can be removed for recycling before they start stinking the place up.
