Making America Great Again

According to the conventional “wisdom” among the Leftists, God-Emperor Trump is a flashy  simpleton who’s thrashing around without a clue, pissing off our allies and screwing up the country etc. etc. etc.

I’ll go with the “flashy” because well, that’s kinda undeniable — but that’s just Trump’s style.  What he’s doing, however, is far more profound than most people realize.  We all know his signal domestic achievements — conservative Supreme Court judges, tax cuts, nuking all the tiresome regulations which Democrat-controlled government apparatchiks have been inflicting on both businesses and individuals:  all this and more, as well as driving the Left to frothing rage with his importunate and (to me) funny tweets, as he sets about radically changing the country’s zeitgeist from hapless Bush-era globalism and malevolent Obama-era neo-socialism into… greatness.

That’s all well and good;  but what about foreign policy?  This has always been a Republican strongpoint (Nixon, Reagan etc.) and a Democrat disaster area (Carter, Clinton, Obama ’nuff said).

Trump is proving to be a past master at the Great Game, all the more impressively so because he has no foreign policy experience.  I could go on and explain it, but Sundance has beaten me to the punch.  Go there now and read it all, because it will explain Trump’s actions and strategy better than I could ever do.

Back?  Good.  Now here’s what I think.

I think that Trump’s actions are quite definitely not off-the-cuff, spur-of-the-moment improvising.  Yes, his technique may be so — he’s definitely a ready-fire-aim kind of guy — but behind that, I’m pretty sure that he has a very comprehensive plan, and that plan has come from several years of thinking about the U.S. and its relationship with the rest of the world, and what he would do to change it back into our favor.  In other words, Trump has been wargaming this situation and his plan over and over and over again, and now that he’s POTUS, he’s putting it into practice.

I hesitate even to say this;  but if I’m right, Donald Trump may turn out to be one of the most consequential Presidents this country has ever had.  He is so far removed from the stupid, incompetent and venal Barack Obama that it beggars any attempt to quantify it.

All we have to do, we citizens of the United States, is to ignore the howling from the Left and give him the tools to finish the job.  That means voting into office a Congress which will support him — oftentimes despite themselves — and, of course, reelecting him when the time comes.

We can worry about 2024 later, but it will involve putting someone into power who will have not only the knowledge but the sheer balls to continue Trump’s plan.  If we can do that, there will be no stopping us;  and we will make the 21st century an American one, just as we did its predecessor.

Quote Of The Day

Over at PJMedia, John Hawkins (who seems to have been appointed List Master there) has compiled a list of “Best Thomas Sowell Quotes“.

All of them are good.  My favorite, because I’m a.) an historian and b.) conservative, is this one:

“For the anointed, traditions are likely to be seen as the dead hand of the past, relics of a less enlightened age, and not as the distilled experience of millions who faced similar human vicissitudes before.”

Yup.  The quote goes perfectly with Cicero’s immortal words:

“Not to know what happened before you were born is to be a child forever. For what is the time of a man, except it be interwoven with that memory of ancient things of a superior age?”

Call it a twofer.

Only Just Good Enough

My only quibble with this story is that the goblin wasn’t dead at the end of it.

An employee of a gas station in the 200 block of West Camp Wisdom Road, near the border with Duncanville, alerted the mother about 10 p.m. that a man was trying to get into her SUV.
She jumped into the vehicle. When the man didn’t stop, she pulled a gun from the glove box and shot him in the head, police said.
The vehicle then crashed into a utility pole.

So far, so good.  But the goblin didn’t croak, because:

“I should have just have emptied the whole clip but I didn’t. I didn’t. I just wanted to give him a warning shot that was it.”

I can’t criticize Our Heroine too much, because she stopped the danger to her kids, and that’s all that matters.  However, I just hope that the thing ends here, with the choirboy in jail for a long time — too long to come after the woman when he gets out, or too old to try this again with someone else.

Sometimes, you see, it’s better to end the thing properly, even if you aren’t a killer.

Dept Of Righteous Shootings

Also Quote Of The Day:

“I had my own personal AK-47.”

Here’s the summary:  man comes home, finds two (!) choirboys ransacking his house.  They see him, start to pull guns on him, whereupon Our Hero grabs his “personal AK-47” from a closet and ventilates both said choirboys until they are dead.

Now go and read the luscious details, including the part where the DA doesn’t press charges on Our Hero.

Afterthought:  He seems apprehensive that the choirboys’ acquaintances may attempt some sort of revenge.  My suggestion:  buy a couple spare AK mags.  Bet they don’t; would you try and whack a guy who’s prepared to kill people over a TV set?  It is, as they say, to laugh.

Dept. Of Righteous Shootings

By now, everybody will have learned of the latest Righteous Shooting in Washington state — unless, of course, you depend on the gun-hating mainstream media for you news, in which case you would be completely in the dark about it because a Good Guy whacking a goblin doesn’t comport well with Teh Narrative (which states that all guns are eeeevil and gun owners are Literally Hitler).

Anyway, the story goes that goblin causes deadly mayhem in a WalMart, Hero Gun Owner shoots his worthless ass dead, the end.

Ordinarily, that would be sufficient cause for a Happy Dance, but this one has some Extra-Special Gunny Goodness about it.  Allow an eyewitness to explain:

Megan Chadwick said her husband saw the civilian take down the shooter. “He said he watched him (the shooter) take his last breath,” Chadwick said. “There were three civilians going after him (the shooter) to shoot him and two of them had their guns up — and then the third guy shot him through the window of the car.”
Chadwick said her husband was armed as well.

So by my count, that makes four law-abiding gun owners on hand in the WalMart parking lot, basically lining up to send the goblin to an early grave?

Now we can begin the Happy Dance…

Quote Of The Day

“These guys can talk about banning assault rifles and banning guns, but when it comes and happens to them, they’re going to wish they had one.”  — Scott Reardean, after stopping a carjacker.

Story here.  My only quibble is that between the two gun owners, they somehow failed to shoot the damn goblin.
