  1. I’m level 4 with Kim.

NONE of my semi auto pistols have electronic gizmos on them. Iron sights only. I read online this is “gun Amish”. Great for me. Irons always work. Plus what the fuck is the point of a small carry gun like a 9mm or 380 or 380 special with some heavy big electro optic on top? Makes it harder to conceal. And you are not using that thing at 6 feet of distance or less when someone is trying to beat you to death or anally rape your asshole.

For rifles it’s either iron sights or scopes for me. I do understand an electro optic on a rifle if one desires. Just not on a handgun

Semi auto pistols are great – I really enjoy the Sig P229 – but there is something magical and awesome about a full size 357 magnum revolver. Ruger GP100 4 inch stainless is my choice. Some people like smith and Wesson.

Don’t forget to make sure you have a 22 rifle and a 22 handgun of some kind in your stash. That should be mandatory.

    YMMV

    1. .22 guns aren’t firearms, but household appliances like kettles, blenders or coffee brewers. Thus .22 ammo is a staple, like flour, butter or sugar.

  2. Well, due to the fact that our local karens have all but chased away every gun range in a 20 mile radius, we wobble between level 2 and 3. Used to be a lovely indoor facility right across from our local minor airport, everyone that needed practice regularly was there including LEO of all flavors – local, state and county, then “the neighbors” bitched so much that the township made things difficult for the owner. Mind the sound baffling was excellent, barely any sound reached the parking lot much less houses 100 yards out. Owner closed it down and that was it. We can thank (more like bitch at) all the Illinois liberals that have come here to escape Pritzker’s socialist nirvana (most from Shitcago). So, drive 30 minutes or an hour each way for shooty time becomes a chore. Yeah, you folks in metro areas can laugh but we are not amused by the inconvenience our here in small town America. I have enough land to be able to shoot on my property, but of course this is not permitted by the busybody types of local governance. Heck, it took a lawsuit to get the state governor to quit classifying airguns as firearms, I kid you not. We do practice with the .22 air rifle to 25 yards but it is just not the same.

  3. I missed the AR craze before the overlords in the state capitol banned them. Id id manage to get an M1A and a Garand. I’m not fit enough to fun far so I’m going to defend my hidey hole and see how many commies I can delete from the web browser of life before I cash out.

On that note, I better get my chores done so I can go get some group therapy.

    1. Supreme Court case combined Connecticut and Illinois cases. They start hearing the assault weapons case this fall and ruling should come June or July of 2027

Liberals will be crying rivers of tears because the assault weapons ban will absolutely be ruled to be unconstitutional.

      # Fuck the liberals

  4. I’m well past level 4 and thinking about cannons. Something like a howizter with grape shot should do nicely to limit the hordes storming the castle.

Need a breech loader so I can fire often enough and fast enough. Now a magazine for that and I will be ready.

    1. I’m not quite there, but I like the way you think.

Level 6 would not necessarily contain too many guns, but would include landmines, Claymore and C4 appliances.

      1. “C4 appliances” – the det cord ones around the TV frame that blow your hand off when you’re crossing my front yard with my TV?

    2. Bought the cannon. Thought we needed a bit of artillery support around the place. Golf ball bore; I don’t know of a golf ball actually survives approx. 150 grains of FFG Triple Se7en; I need a high speed camera to figure that out. Makes a hell of a fireball. I’d send you a picture, but that takes a level of technical expertise I don’t have and have no interest in acquiring.

Previous owner passed on a small supply of metal balls, golf ball sized. Says they’ll punch through damn near anything. I’m certain they’d punch a golf ball sized hole right through both sides of a car. I may have to find an appropriate test vehicle and test that theory . . .

  5. The M-16 was first fielded in 1962 (Air Force), then 1964 for the Army.

The first working hypertext implementation was built at Brown University in 1967.

    Ethernet was invented in 1973.

Aimpoint released the first Red Dot Sight in 1975.

The Glock 17 was first adopted by an American police department in 1986.

The first web browser was written in 1990 at CERN.

And for those of you north of 45 (the age, not the caliber) you might want to take a look those fangled red dot sights for pistols–it puts the dot on the same focal plane as your target, so you can see both.

    1. OBSMBH… a .223 Gatling kit for $1,200? (My only quibble is that it needs a standard magazine converter, because where does one get .223 belts?)

I see a truck mount… yes, that would do nicely at the next Pantifa riot.

  6. Well Kim, you’ve been here so you know my level.

“Gun Amish”. Warms my heart, that does. Fortunately I can still enjoy iron sights on a flat range on a sunny day. That said, age has forced me to at least consider bits of modern tech here and there. Again fortunately, the AR platform offers almost unlimited choices. I have settled on this LPVO for my social service/party favor AR —

  7. For the longest time my “walkabout” rig included a 308 bolt action with 3-9×40 scope and a Ruger 9mm. Now it is a Marlin 1894 in .357 magnum and a S&W model 317. True, I keep a 686P w/3″ bbl just in case I have to go somewhere where concealed carry is prudent and a Buckmark because I might need to reach out and touch some damned rodent.

    Call me a 3 1/2…
