Following on from Saturday’s post about beautiful watches, here’s today’s challenge:
You’re given a large gift certificate worth $75,000 which can only be redeemed at a store which sells watches. The conditions attached to the certificate are: only three watches (price is limited to $25,000 each, or less), but all three must come from a single brand (Tudor, Tissot, Longines, Citizen, whatever). It’s a “use it or lose it” kind of thing: if you can only find three desirable watches whose total value is $5,000, then that’s what you get.

My choice will appear tomorrow.
And once again: I don’t care if you’re only interested in wearing one Casio digital for the rest of your life. If that’s your bag, don’t bother to play the game, and please spare us your opinion about how silly this all is.

All the above are available in gold at eye watering prices, but nobody but a low class pimp would wear one of them.
I’d call you and get your recommendation. I personally wear a Timex digital daily, but I’m not going to pass up a deal, and since I am totally ignorant of this level of watches, would get someone knowledgeable to assist me on optimizing my choices, and someone I can trust. (Make sure you pick one you like as a tip, least I could do for all of the years of content I’ve been consuming)

I fear such munificence is wasted on me. The challenge to keep it to the same brand really makes this interesting. Here are three very different types.

The one I want, and have had wishlisted for a couple years, but could never justify spending when I have a Orient dive watch that I am very happy wearing. I like the whole word day-of-the-week and the hands having different regions made luminous. It is easy to read at a glance with all the information you might want without feeling busy.

Crisp, clear, refined. I am a railroader so I am staying in my lane, and this would make a good suit watch for the times I wear one.

It’s quartz and digital but for once I actually saw a digital watch that made me take a second look. The font is nice and it doesn’t look like it was bought at Walmart.

I’ve always liked the look of watches but as a young man I killed them regularly. Being poor ( Air Force enlisted with 3 kids) I could only afford cheap watches and thought that was the problem. It never occurred to me there is a functional reason most men wear their watch on their left wrist. I’m left handed and wore my watch on my left wrist. For some strange reason watches dont like being on the wrist of a welder/ blacksmith/ mechanic. Later in life, working in an office, I learned to appreciate handsome watches. , but remain clueless as to actual quality in watches.
With those modest limitations, I’d be in the Omega, IWC or Jaeger-LeCoultre pre-owned camp.
I could easily come in under $75,000 on a trio from any of them, but they wouldn’t be the three I’d pick if not for the single maker limitation. So here goes:

Omega would be a little easier to build a 3-watch collection because of their wide and deep catalog, but I’m a bit of a JLC fanboy, so there’s that.

I want to play this game. But I haven’t spent any time (pun intended) comparing the difference between high end watches. Anything I put out would be strictly a shot in the dark.
Something by Breitling or Rolex.
I can actually afford something by Seiko and Citizen so what would be the point of needing the gift card.
