DBD MAY BE DOWN A FEW DAYS HAVE A MAJOR UPDATING PROBLEM AND HAVE TO RUN IT THROUGH TO ITS FINISH THNX, CHRIS

  2. Let this be a lesson, Brother Kim. Any time you think you wouldn’t be missed, just go dark for a couple days. We’ll send out the search teams.

  3. A lot of shit has gone dark. Its not frivolous shit either. Kim had a couple of links to other blogs that were daily reading.

One of which was the Diplomad, L. Anselm. When the Iran thing kicked off I really wanted to see his read on things, as an ex State Dept employee. He’s been dark for some time. Maybe he’s dead, maybe he just ran out of things to say.

Corporate news outlets suck anymore at getting usable facts anymore. Its all opinion based (it always was but I digress) and reading someone’s blog actually gave some very good insight into what was happening.

All of which has been replaced by Twatter, Ticketytok, Fecesbook, where people are screetching and AI bots are multiplying, and more noise is being created but without footnotes.

I guess thats an oblique way of saying, “Thanks for keeping the last interesting thing alive, Kim.”

    1. He’s moved over to Twatter/X. It’s too bad because I really valued his commentary – but not enough to enlarge my online footprint further.

  4. Taki’s Magazine is gone too. His son the editor had enough and quit. There were some nut jobs there, but also some damn fine writers and minds there too, and I’m going to miss that place.

    1. I’m not surprised about Taki. And I guess I’m the reason or part of the reason. I never paid them a dime so I’m not surprised they abandoned the project.

      1. There were enough nutters in his comments section that I blame them. With their level of analysis and variety of comments, I really didn’t want to comment there.
I also never contributed cash. I didn’t want it any easier for the nutters.

  5. The blogger I’m most worried about is Joel at joelsgulch.com (aka: The Ultimate Answer to Kings). His last post was January 9th. He’s not a young man, and he lives alone (excepting his dog) out in Nowheresville, AZ. The commentariat over there has pretty much given up on him:-(.
