Here’s one that is supposed to make us all alarmed and stuff.
A fifth of Europeans surveyed said that they would in some circumstances prefer to live under a dictatorship amid growing dissatisfaction with the current democratic order or indeed lack thereof in their countries.
Given the countries in which this poll was taken, I’m amazed that the number is that low. But that’s not the point.
The point is that four out of five Euros would not consider living under a benevolent dictatorship. And given that they all live under some kind of soft- or hard socialist system — which is more or less like a benevolent dictatorship (only less efficient), this is the part that’s quite surprising.
I’d love to see the results of the same poll, conducted Over Here in these United States — provided, of course, that I could design the sample so as to reflect reality and not just the views of the Harvard faculty lounge or the New York Times editorial committee.
The imbeciles choosing dictatorship no doubt believe that the dictatorship would be benevolent to them. Trotsky etc thought the same thing at one time. Then Stalin started his purges and we saw the true form of dictatorship.
Some refuse to learn from history and force many of us to get a lesson firsthand of what we already know is a bad situation
I’m surprised the fraction is so low.
What’s the percentage of People who believe these types of people are actually real polls. And then what is the real number of polls done by a neutral party that use a statistically valid sample size, or are just done with loaded questions in a controlled sample set for the entity that is paying the bill for the poll.
I don’t believe any of them. They all have the same validity as the claim that was on TV as I grew up that 90% of doctors say that smoking a particular brand of cigarette was good for you.
Wait… are you saying you don’t believe DOCTORS???

“A fifth of Europeans”
That reminds me, someone needs to get all the alcohol out of there before the hammer comes down.
I’d rather live under a government that admits it’s a dictatorship than one where I get to vote every 4 years to uphold the illusion that anything I do has any influence at all on how the country is being run (which is the case in both the US, UK, and EU among many others).
At least the former is honest about what it is.
When the BritCaliphate, KrautCaliphate, & FrogCaliphate take over. They’ll get their wish.
