I remember back in the early 70’s I was talking to a fellow student from Uganda. He was convinced that Voo Doo worked and went into great detail about why he felt that way. We did come to the conclusion it did not have power over here though so the conversation ended well over all.
That was at a Christian college in the mid west. I think he intended to study medicine.
Study medicine? As in
Double, double toil and trouble;
Fire burn, and cauldron bubble.
Fillet of a fenny snake,
In the cauldron boil and bake;
Eye of newt and toe of frog,
Wool of bat and tongue of dog,
Adder’s fork and blind-worm’s sting,
Lizard’s leg and owlet’s wing,
For a charm of powerful trouble,
Like a hell-broth boil and bubble.
And then roll some bones and rape a virgin.

Ah, they just don’t write them like that anymore.
I’m not surprised at all
