“I’d much rather make a squatter homeless than have a landlord lose property.” — James Jacobs, ASAP Squatter Removal.
I have absolutely no doubt that the state of California is going to try its best to shut him down. Read the whole thing to find out why.
The police and courts aren’t protecting property owners plain and simple. When they refuse to do their job then we’ll gladly take the responsibility back. Remember, police are there to protect the criminal from an angry citizenry.
The ghost clan goes on vacay for a month and upon returning find a squatter in their domicile.
One of the clan pulls an extendable baton and breaks the squatters arm, then, grabs a handful of hair and drags the squatter to the road and throws it in the gutter.
The clan member sticks a finger in the squatters mug and says forcefully, “If you return you will be killed instantly.”
Case closed, as it should be.
…until the cops show up. Then the case begins.
The English language is insufficient to express my level of approval for the above quote.

Adverse possession exists for only one good reason: most of the first land grants in the US are so screwed up that no one can tell which is legitimate. There are up to 5 Virginia land grants that cover the territory my house currently sits on. (George Washington made one of his fortunes speculating on Kentucky land…) The courts needed “it’s my land, I’ve been here 20 years” to sort out the mess. But
It was never about “I moved in, it’s mine”.
