Wrong Approach

Here’s an interesting development:

A hunting stand with a sight line to President Trump’s Air Force One exit area was found at Palm Beach airport.

FBI Director Kash Patel said the bureau is investigating the situation.

“Prior to the President’s return to West Palm Beach, USSS discovered what appeared to be an elevated hunting stand within sight line of the Air Force One landing zone,” Patel said, according to Fox News. “No individuals were located at the scene. The FBI has since taken the investigatory lead, flying in resources to collect all evidence from the scene, and deploying our cell phone analytics capabilities.”

And here’s where I would have parted ways with Kash & The Gang.

What I would have done is upon discovery of the stand is completely the opposite.  Instead of making a big splash about it, I would have kept shtum, and booby-trapped it so that if some scrote tried to use it, there would be a ‘splosion — just a small one, so as to incapacitate as opposed to dissolving said scrote into hamburger.

Of course, this action may be against some law, which just goes to show how wet and stupid our laws have become.

  1. I agree with you Kim for the most part. Patel and company should have remained silent about it and staked it out. Then catch the person and interrogate them.

  2. Why booby trap it? Are we certain it isn’t some local guy’s bow hunting spot? If it is nefarious sure, go after the guy – but it seems just as likely to be someone who has no idea that there is a touch point to Trump or anything else.

    Do the legwork first.

    1. That was my thought too. Lots of bowhunting occurs within spitting distance of civilization. In fact, some areas allow bow hunting within city limits as long as there’s enough effective spacing around your particular stand. Just because they found some guy’s deer stand doesn’t mean it’s automatically an assassin’s hidey hole. Do the leg work first and don’t storm the guy’s house at 3 am with a swat team. Knock on the door politely at 7 am and ask him nicely first.

      1. I’m curious as to how much bow hunting — or any hunting at all — occurs in W. Palm Beach…

        1. A quick map search shows two state wildlife areas in city limits, plus some other large open areas. Another search says it is legal in city limits. So my guess is not zero.

I have a blind setup in my back yard right now (10 acres). I have previously hunted where I could see a school on the other side of the HW. It was down a steep hill and probably 300+ yards away, so it might aas well been 10 miles with a bow, but if I was always worried someone would freak out if they noticed my blind.

  3. It’s Florida, and it’s a hunting stand.

There is a high probability that the hunter had no idea that that was the Air Force One exit area.

So put a camera on it that feeds back to some operation center somewhere, and have it throw and alert whenever someone gets on the stand. Then see if that lines up with when AF1 is on the area. Then have the dude arrested.
