“I Want To Drive It Fast”

Our girl Nicole discovers what happens when you strap a 450hp Lotus engine to a skateboard.

And she has several Big Moments.

In a recreation of one of my favorite cars of all time.

(You may want to turn your speakers down if you’re watching this in company, or at work.  Otherwise, stick on the lids and crank it up, like she did.)

Sadly, I think my time has passed to enjoy driving a car like this… although I sure would like to test that hypothesis.

  1. Too old to drive a car like that? Don’t be silly. Paul Neuman was 80 when he climbed into a Race Car at the 24 Hours of Daytona and did two 2 hour stints. and I’ve seen guys do Track days in their late 80’s. and I still do Track days at 78. OK — so we are not as fast and not pulling the same corner speeds. But that’s the thing about Track days. You just run in a slower group, nobody wants you to go faster than you are comfortable going. As the saying goes …. “The older I get the Faster I used to be.”

The Lancia Stratos was Originally bult as a FIA Group 4 Rally car so was at it’s best on a gravel or snow-covered road and not Tarmac where the super short wheel base was an advantage. That’s the type of surface I’d want to drive on in the Stratos replica. Nothing more fun than sliding around on dirt.

      1. Well, yeah, the combination of a short wheel base and way too much power makes them somewhat ” Twitchy”, ( OK – they swap ends almost instantly ) …. but it’s a Rally car – they are supposed to be that way.

    1. You will never see that in an auto video that was done on a public road. ( at least you never will by any experienced Youtuber ) But you might see a data overlay on a video done on a track. Even if you see an Over the Drivers shoulder shot the speedo will be blurred out in the edit room.
