From Comfortable Heritage To Modern Banal

We’ve all seen how modernist logo design has turned the proud familiar into simplistic trash:

…and of the recent Cracker Barrel rebrand we will not speak, as they’ve been forced into a U-turn.

Now if one thinks of modernistic Philistines and Wokery Gone Mad in the civic sense, it’s hard to imagine a better example than that “blueberry in a bowl of tomato soup”, Austin TX.  Who have “progressed” from a traditional city seal to… well, a 1970s-era representation of a homeless person’s tent shelter:

Bloody hell.  It’s an encapsulation of everything that’s wrong with the Left:  ahistorical, simplistic and ugly.

    1. One, they are ignorant of history and have no desire to honor it.

Two, they feel that somehow they have to do something, anything, even if it sucks, or else they can’t justify their existence, and

      three, they suck.

      1. Agree that most are ignorant of history. Willfully so. However, I submit that the “shot callers” are not.

        “Unburdened by what has been”.

What’s that old saw about destroying a society by erasing It’s history?

        All part of the plan.

        1. If they can destroy history, no one will know it has all been tried before, and failed every time.

  1. They are just plain stupid.
    And ugly.
Having a $100k college shingle only reinforces that fact.

They truly are adults bodies commandeered by children’s brains and that is a pathetic and potentially dangerous combination.

The biggest negative result from the broken nuclear family and a massive burden the rest of us must bear.

You know what the solution is.
The same as the solution to all massively bothersome things.

  2. The Austin logo fits when you know how to read it:

“Austin, where all the greenies are to the left of the bell curve…”

    1. As I mentioned elsewhere, good luck getting a ghetto convenience store to stop selling 40’s, pork cracklins and lotto tickets. That’s 90% of their profit day-in and day-out.

  3. The socialist mayor-bitch of Boise (from Massachusetts, not even an Idahoan) recently tried to do the same thing with the city flag. The vocal backlash she got was enough to make her quietly drop the idea …for now.

  4. Reminds me of the change to the Minnesota State Flag rammed through with no public approval, by Tampon Tim’s gang.

  5. At first glance I thought that new Austin logo said Autism.

Regardless, it’s nice to see that Austin doesn’t have any real problems, so they can devote time and money to this non-sense.
