While Dad was stationed at Upper Heyford, I went to school at RAF Croughton, where the USAF had (and still has) a huge antenna farm that covers most of the base. Local shepherds and their flocks were allowed on base to graze under the antennas. Sheep get under the guy wires more easily than riding mowers.
