Being nearly the same age as Sedaka, I grew up with his music. The guy was a rare and very talented bird – a singer writing his own hits, a performer before live audiences, a songwriter creating hundreds of songs, many of them hits for other singers, a session musician for other singers, and a fine classical and pop pianist who accompanied himself and others.
His passing makes me feel old.
