Fearnley, Again

I know I’ve featured the art of Alan Fearnley many, many times before, but I’m hopelessly, passionately in love with it.

Indeed, if someone were to tell me that I could put only his paintings on my walls, I’d have no problem with it.  (New Wife, however…)

Then I found something a little different, from his “picnic” series:

Right cheeky, that is.

  1. I’ve never heard of him before. His works are impressive. They don’t sell for a lot – a few hundred to at most a few thousand $. But I gather he’s done very well on prints, calendars, and such.

He was born in 1942, so several of the works above are “retro”; an interesting choice. Also, he apparently did a series of paintings about the American Civil War – a surprising subject for a modern British painter.

  2. Fully concur, Kim.

I have a classic Fearnley print in pride of place in my home.

Features a vintage MG, a foggy river in the soft morning light and a solitary fly fisherman.

If there is an afterlife, I want to be that fisherman.

  3. I would have to agree Kim he captures the essence of a moment better than any camera…draws you in.by the way the red sporter just became my desktop.
