Lancias look nice, but who would want to have such an unreliable rust bucket?
Ah, but you have to apply the Alfa Romeo Rule:

Before I cry over this sad story, is Knob in the U.S.? If so, I would be tempted to help him find the owner (easy – get the VIN and have a friendly occifer get a name and last known address).
If he is “over there” as in not in U.S. then it will take a lot of knocking on doors in an outward spiral from said garage. Best of luck, no matter the nay-sayers it is worth saving.
