Conversation In A Car

I admit that I could listen to Jay Leno and James May talk about cars and such all day.  And that it takes place mostly in a Triumph TR6 makes it all the better.  (By the way, Jay’s take on the Ford Model T is wonderful.)

Should you want one properly restored, here are three options:  1972 / 1973 / 1974

I like the Racing Green one, but I’d happily drive any of them.

And from the comments, I think that “Our Man In Jay Leno’s Garage” is an inspired idea.  Make it happen, you guys.

  1. Stationed in the army in Wildflecken Germany in 1976 I had the opportunity to purchase a brand new Triumph TR6 for $4,999.00. It was a deal Triumph had for army soldiers only.

That was a fair amount of coin for an enlisted soldier and while I probably could have done it, I did not, and I have ever regretted it.

  2. James May’s solo projects are very good. His cooking show and cookbook are surprisingly good. Although I’d never go to India, it was fascinating to watch his travel show there. I hope May does more of those projects.

  3. I always thought May was the weaker of the trio, but then he was playing the straight man. I loved his “Cars of the people” series. Hammond seems to be the one who can’t quite carry a show by himself.

  4. I saw this when it came out a week or two ago and thought it was one of the best things I’d seen in a while. The more of James I see outside his TG/GT persona, the more likable I find him to be. I find I enjoy the “real” Clarkson and Hammond more, as well. They are a great team and produced the best television of the 21st Century (thus far), but I enjoy them more when they act like real human beings.
