That’s a fair elevation; is he actually inside France? Or just perilously close to the border?

Lovely. I spent three months working for a large Texas semiconductor manufacturer that everybody knows about, just up the coast at Villaneuve-Loubet (a suburb of Nice). Crowded, but lovely country and great food.
Never did get to Monaco, but I did find the time to sightsee and visit wineries (and a bullfight!) in Provence for a couple of weekends. Brought nearly a full case of wine back with me, hidden and undeclared in my luggage. Oh, and I had a nice view of the Mediterranean from my apartment balcony.
