Ask me again why I love the Swedish M96 Mauser in 6.5x55mm… in the hands of Henry Chan.

…or the model (M/41B) actually used in the video:

Of all the rifles I’ve let go in my life, this one ranks near or if not actually at the top.

And Henry’s post-range commentary parallels my own thoughts on the subject, precisely.

Incidentally, viz. his earlier comments on the Lee-Enfield counterpart, Henry shooting the the No.4 MkI (T) can be seen here.

  1. Have owned both in the past, although my Mauser was rechambered to 7.62. Now both banned.

The .303 was sublime. Matching bolt and action. Now crushed by the government. The Mauser also.

  2. Back in the 2012 or so, I probably did one of the best trades I ever did. I traded a spam-can of 7.62X39(that I probably had >$60 in) to my boss for a mildly Bubb’ed Swedish 1894 carbine. Put it in the closet and forgot about for a long while. Finally pulled it out after acquiring some boxes of Swedish surplus(as well as some wooden-tipped blanks – for shooting vampires??). Fun gun to shoot.
