So… you want to go hunting in southern Africa, do you? Well, see if you can spot the lion:

If it took you longer than five seconds, too bad, you lose.

I just saw this story today. Guy got gored by a dugga boy…I prefer not to travel back in time to pre-historic places.

That’s the reason I’ve never hunted buff.
I don’t have the courage, and I’m not ashamed to admit it, either.
Less than. However, I spend a lot of time hunting for our house cats in the garden (the actual garden, not the back lawn) so I have more practice than most.
Welp, I’m a goner.
I don’t see it either.
Many years ago, I read a book by some famous hunting guide about his experiences leading safaris in Africa. One particular bit sticks in my mind:
Most of his clients were wealthy and went first class everything, including their rifles, but he was dismayed about how many showed up to hunt dangerous game having yet to fire and zero their very expensive guns.
As a result, he had them go to a range before they even went to the field, to zero and practice with the rifle they intended to use until they could put two shots on target at one hundred yards in two seconds. There was much grousing and grumbling from the wannabe hunters, but most of them succeeded sooner or later, and the the ones who couldn’t perform were left at home camp.
His justification for this hard work and delay was astonishing to me – he explained to them that if they nicked a lion at 100 yards, the wounded, angry, bounding 400 lb beast could be on them in just four seconds.
