  1. Remington 742 Woodsmaster. My dad, bother and I all had one in 30-06. Great all around gun for anything at any range with just change in bullet weight. Dad is gone, I quit hunting when the wife died, and my brother switched to a 243 after he bought one for his daughter and she one shot any deer that got close. For my brother though, it was the substantial weight reduction that changed his mind, he’s likes to walk and stalk like dad did. I always likened the 742 to a light weight civilian BAR.

  2. My dad and his father both had Woodsmasters in 30-06, I think my grandfather had a .243 as well, used it as he got older. My uncle had a Browning BAR in 30-06, and the pic looks just like I remembered it. I seem to remember that the early Remington semis had a very similar profile to the BAR, but it might have been the shotties.
