I spy, with my little eye, one boy with socks and shoes on, and one barefoot girl.
I suspect that walking barefoot in that environment is not the wisest thing to do.
Go north from there and watch Youtube videos of metalworkers in Pakistan pouring molten steel from handheld pots into molds on a dirt floor. All of the men and boys are wearing flammable man-dresses and sandals, or sometimes barefoot, with no glasses or gloves. You’ll also see welding with no helmet, maybe sunglasses on a good day, machining and grinding with no eye protection, machinery running with no guards on open belts and gears while the operators’ little boys climb on them like jungle gyms, and you’ll wonder how any of them live to age thirty.
It still looks better than parts of Portland OR.
