Yeah, Right

From Russki Strongman-In-Chief:

Russian President Vladimir Putin condemned the killing of Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei on Sunday, calling the death, which came amid strikes from Israel and the U.S., a “cynical violation” of norms.

Uh huh. Let’s talk about “cynicism” for a moment.  Lessee:

  • Murdering dozens, perhaps hundreds of political opponents and even jailing people who dare to criticized his rule:  A-OK
  • Murdering said critics and opponents even when they’re living outside Russia in places like the UK:  A-OK
  • Executing generals and other military officers who failed to conquer Ukraine in three days, as promised, taking instead over three years (and still failing):  very much A-OK

But killing the head of a terrorist state which has financed and encouraged terrorist acts all over the civilized (and not-so-civilized) world for the past half-century… well wait a minute, that’s just beyond the pale, you know.

Fuck you, Vlad, and that fucking horse you rode in on.

Just be thankful there wasn’t a rocket sent in your direction.  (It could still happen.)

Nothing Wrong There

Via Insty, this:

Two things to note here: firstly, Keith Self is my local guy and yes, I’m going to vote for him every chance I get.

Secondly, that fucking Muslim-only  EPCOT  EPIC City was planned to be built in Keith Self’s district (or very close to it — the maps are a little unclear).  Fortunately, that festering shithole was nuked by our worthy TxGov* but the assholes have renamed the thing and keep pushing it forward.  Self and Roy’s caucus would (I hope) stop it dead, forever.

Like I said, we need an asterisk in the First Amendment, and this is a good start.  It’s not enough just to trust the Constitution to protect our republic — see countless Second Amendment transgressions for examples — we need to start doing what the Texas constitution does and put in measures that actively resist and ban bullshit like shari’a.

*Yeah, Greg Abbott is also going to get my vote every time.

Disappeared Without A Trace

Why have I not seen much about this story?

A man is dead following an overnight break-in attempt at President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate.

Authorities say Austin Tucker Martin, 21, breached the perimeter at Mar-a-Lago on Feb. 22 carrying what appeared to be a shotgun and a fuel can. Two U.S. Secret Service agents and a Palm Beach County sheriff’s deputy spotted him near the property’s north gate and ordered him to drop his weapons.

Martin lowered the gas can but, according to Palm Beach County Sheriff Ric Bradshaw, raised the shotgun “into a shooting position.” The agents and deputy began to shoot, killing him.

Have we become so inured to random acts of assassination directed at Trump that we just lose interest quickly?

Oh wait:

Authorities have not said how many shots were fired, who fired the fatal round, or what — if any — connection Martin had to extremist groups or ideologies. His motive for approaching the estate armed with a shotgun and a fuel can remains unknown.

Never mind, I’m sure that all will be explained in due course.  (See Page T17, right underneath the tide tables and crossword puzzle.)

Undeserving

Yeah, this is the right thing to do:

House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) has denied a request to allow the late civil rights activist Rev. Jesse Jackson to lie in honor in the U.S. Capitol Rotunda.

At first glance, this would appear to be a spiteful act.  When you look at the criteria for said honor, however, the truth emerges:

The Speaker considered past precedent of mostly reserving the practice for former presidents and select former government officials and military honorees.

And Jackson wouldn’t qualify under a single one of those categories, would he?  Because he never did a single damn thing except ride the Racism Grifter Express (which, to be fair, I think he did actually create).

And while we’re there, an honest IRS investigation and audit into his “Rainbow Coalition”‘s finances might in all likelihood have ended with him in jail for financial fraud or at best mismanagement.  But that was never going to happen, of course.

Had Jackson ever been elected to office on the Token Negro ticket, he would have been proven to be as inept and venal as the asshole (another “community activist”) who was eventually elected to the Presidency, on the same ticket.

R.I.P.

…or not.  I see that both Jesse Jackson and Robert Duvall have recently died.

I deeply mourn the passing of one, and am dancing a jig of joy for the death of the other.  Feel free to guess which is which.
