I Hate Change, But

Many of you have been experiencing hassles logging in to Comments and so on.  I’ve been having it worse, in that my access to WordPress has been severely restricted.  Here, for example, is what I experienced this morning in trying to put up a SINGLE post, in some cases multiple times:

It is without question a server issue.  I need to migrate to a dedicated server, but I can’t afford the monthly charges.

My choices are simple:

  • live with this problem and restrict blogging input
  • hang it up altogether (yes, I am that pissed off)
  • change my blogging software away from WordPress (meaning, re-format the entire Splendid Isolation blog and all posts to fit into a new engine)
  • set up a paywall (ain’t gonna happen)
  • do what Chris Muir does, and have an annual fundraiser to be able to afford a dedicated server each year.

Let me know what you think, assuming you can get to Comments.

Asking For It

Bound to happen:

Authorities will not file criminal charges against former heavyweight champ Mike Tyson after he was recorded on video punching a fellow first-class passenger aboard a plane at San Francisco International Airport last month.

You have to ask yourself about the industrial-strength Stupid in a guy who decides to pick a fight with Mike Tyson.  In close quarters.  With nowhere to run to.  Without at least one gun handy.

Has to be a Biden voter.

Nazzo Fast, Guido

There’s this (no link because paywall):

Ummm, at the risk of offending some people — and I have no truck with pro-abortion loonies harassing judges and bombing pro-life organizations, believe me — it seems that I do need to remind everyone that the anti-abortion groups have had their own nutcases in the past:  murdering abortion doctors, blockading and bombing abortion clinics and so on.

This is not a tu quoque  argument, by the way.  If someone tries to terrorize a judge for his opinion or ruling, or bombs a building, that by definition is terrorism.

Both sides stand accused.

And the “activist” media are assholes (and not just in this instance, either).

Dept. Of Righteous Shootings

This one has everything:  a naked man, a riding mower, an elderly couple and an excellent outcome.

A Georgia homeowner fatally shot a naked man who tackled his 67-year-old wife off a riding lawnmower and then began attacking both of them.

One would think that any goblin would think twice before trying this on in rural Georgia, but then again, goblins are not generally PhD candidates.

Genetic Slavery

From GeekWithA.45, commenting at this post:

One of my old friends, a scholar of Talmud and Kaballah, once opined that there was a really important reason $DEITY lead Moses and the Israelites around the desert for 40 years between their deliverance from slavery and arrival at the promised land, and it had little to do with petty Divine annoyance on the subject of golden calves.  It was, he explained, to give that society time to let the slave generation die off and train the new generation to conditions of self reliance, to become people fit to determine their own fate.  I think there’s a lot to that.  Slave instincts of servility are pernicious, and difficult for even the hardiest to shake off.

There’s more than a lot to that.  There is so much truth in that brief summation that I’m mortified that I’ve never put it into words.

Winner

I am happy to announce that the winner of the ULD Rifle Draw is Longtime Reader and frequent commenter Topcat1957.

Summary:  There were 253 tickets in total.  No paper tickets this year;  I simply assigned each ticket a number and did a random number generator between 0 and 254, and TC’s number came up.

Thank you all for participating, and congrats to TopCat.
