That’s Gotta Sting

Forgive me for chuckling. but this story is just too rich:

A vegan restaurant has decided to put meat on the menu after being hit by the cost of living crisis – angering many customers who are ‘saddened’ by the change. The Mango Tree in Taunton, Somerset, closed its doors on Saturday to undergo renovations including an updated menu which will include meat. They are not the only vegan restaurant to struggle in recent years due to a lack of uptake, but those who loved the plant-based values have hit out saying ‘selling meat is worse than closing’.

Yeah, easy to say when it’s not your livelihood.

‘Veganism isn’t a business venture. It’s an ethical philosophy that does the best for the animals, the planet, and public health.’

The owners, however, have the proper perspective:

The restaurant, however, insisted they were left with ‘no choice’ and said: ‘The only other option was to close permanently.  Ethics extend to the jobs and welfare of our wonderful team, to whom we owe a great deal, and another chance.’

Exactly.  Good for them, and a pox on the fanatics.

  1. “‘Veganism isn’t a business venture. It’s an ethical philosophy that does the best for the animals, the planet, and public health.’”

It’s a cultish ideology that does the worst for animals, the planet, and public health.

    There, fixed that for you.

  2. Veganism, vegetarianism, they are all the same to me and
    closely resemble ‘climate change’ zealotry.
It’s a cult, religion, gang if you wish, based on nothing but
misguided beliefs and/or out and out falsehoods.
Your teeth ALONE prove you are not and were not meant to live
    on plants alone.
There in no enzyme in your body that will breakdown cellulose,
which is present in almost all plants. The list goes on.
You are NOT going to change these peoples minds and trying is
a waste of time, effort and patience !!
Let them wonder off and graze in a field somewhere.
    Nice thick ribeye sounds good.
I’ll bet I can still afford about HALF of one !!

  3. Ribeye steak, short ribs, a brisket, seven rib roast, or a tongue.
They all sound splendid to me now.
Vegetarian or Vegan should be something that can be ordered off the menu.

Once at a Sierra Club outing (I’m a mole there), someone complained about no Vegan option.
Impertinently, I said, “Can’t they just pick it out?”
I got a dirty look from some woman participant who told me “It’s about them not touching.”
Even my brother outgrew that by age 10.
