  1. The Fifth and The Ninth get all the glory, and most of the media play, but The Seventh is a wildly underrated gem. It got a fraction of increased notice after they used it as the background music for the king’s speech in “The King’s Speech”. If I were to cobble together the ideal symphony, it would be the first and third movements of The Seventh, and the second and fourth movements of The Ninth.

  2. I first found this piece when I heard it in the movie “Zardoz”. As odd as that film was, it can’t be faulted for its use of music. This piece alone made it worth the watching for me.
