I started getting back into jazz last summer. I started with a top 50 albums from Jazz Fuel. My cousin and his wife are into jazz so I bounced some performers and albums off of them and they made suggestions. I’ll have to add Eddie Higgins to the list to look for at the used music shop. Like you, I tend to prefer the hard bop era of the late 50s through the 60s for jazz.
