Looking Into It

From Airstrip One, home of the telescreen, comes this news:

A.I. speed cameras can detect how fast someone is travelling and send a report on the make, model and number plate of a vehicle to the police – but some Brits are concerned over privacy.

And of course, there’s always a willing number of the Terminally Supine who are only too pleased to lick those chains:

Louise Thomas, from Confused.com car insurance thinks it will help improve safety and protect both road users and pedestrians. “A.I. speed cameras will help catch drivers who break the law when behind the wheel, such as driving without wearing a seatbelt or for using their phone,” she said.

And no doubt, she would support compulsory implanting of microscopic ships into drivers’ brains, to cut the cost of the cameras and make surveillance of same much more “efficient”.

As for that “concern over the loss of privacy” thing:  I hate to break it to you Brits, but for you that ship sailed so long ago, it’s already begun the return voyage.

Enjoy the taste of metal on your tongues.

  1. The little hamlet where I live (outside of Houston) set up red light cameras at several intersections. The citizens, who started getting all sorts of tickets for LEGAL right turns on red, raised a stink. Also found out the red light camera company convinced the city council to dick around with the timing on the yellow light which completely fucked the already bad traffic situation, then found out roughly 80% of the ticket costs go to the camera company too. We righteously raised hell and got them taken down. But yeah, relax just a little and the damn commies will put them right back up.

  2. “License plate reader” cameras have been popping up here in pricksterville like fucking dandelions, even in bum fuck egypt places like along highways through vast corn fields.

Since tyranny is what these fuckers are all about I wonder what their capabilities really are.

  3. ANPR cameras have been around for a long time, ditto speed guns. Marrying the two was done a long time ago too – none of this AI clickbait needed. The new thing is seeing through windscreens – notoriously reflective.

  4. “How do these cameras react to a pellet gun or 22lr?”
Don’t know, but I do remember seeing (was it here with Kim in his Nation of Rifleman years?) lots of pics of UK speed cameras necklaced ala ANC by enterprising yoots. I used to LMAO at the blackened posts, charred metal enclosures, and melted cameras.

    1. I’m too old to climb the damn poles. Sling shots, air rifles and 22lr rifles will have to be used I suppose.
